Where did January go? Really interesting hearing about all the new/pending pups - think you have found some surrogate owners!!!
Thank you Liz for starting us off on another week and another month.
Annette mentioned sleep deprivation. There are some 2 years when my girls were babes that are almost a blank.
Heather – Years ago an elderly uncle in a nursing home kept saying he would be 100 next birthday. Even though he was several years short of 100, the staff gave him a “100th" party next birthday. I am a great believer in agreeing with the aged when their minds are confused. Why upset them any more.
Despite starting the year with 44 C, January was Adelaide's mildest since 2004 with average top temp 29 C - I’m not complaining as I droop in the heat.
Hallo all:
LizLFW: Thanks so much for starting us off. My whole day was off kilter - I and some other friends went out for lunch to celebrate another friend's birthday, which sort of broke up the day.
Lynette: Probably a good idea to go with a new suite; waiting for the ideal second-hand one can take a while.
AQ: At what age do we start agreeing with the so-called aged? I might start dropping hints to the family about being more agreeable :-)
Seeing daughter for quick visit in the a.m., then home by lunch I hope.
Have a good Sunday all!
Good morning, all. I hope everyone is OK and not suffering too much in this delightful weather. We're off to Minsmere today - and Limpy was lucky enough to spend yesterday there as well, doing an otter workshop. He gets some fantastic opportunities as a volunteer - he'll be doing a badger workshop in a fortnight's time.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Good morning everyone
It was a bit noisy and windy here last night but settled down now. Someone's gate was banging about for a couple of hours and the dog next door went crazy at about 3am. I assume his owners were out as he kept running to the side door opposite us and then back into the main part of their house. He was barking and whining and yelping so much we started to get concerned. Shortly afterwards we heard a car arriving there and all was quiet thereafter. Maybe we need triple glazing instead of double!
AQ I agree about going along with the fixed beliefs of some very elderly people. With Sheana I don't argue, I sometimes try once to give a rational explanation to her then attempt to distract her. Years ago when I was working it was not at all unusual to have elderly patients attempt to get up and leave the ward to milk the cows or feed the animals etc. I'm afraid that most of us ignored the (then) new fashion of Reality Orientation. I think that is what they called it. After guiding them back to bed and reminding them that they were in hospital as per RO we would usually find that they settled down better if we said something along the lines of 'Its OK, you can get a lie in, the boy has already done it'.
Coffee getting cold, must fly. Have a good day, ALL.
Thank you LizFW for starting us off.
Have a good day at Minsmere, CLARE and LIMPY!
LINDY - stay warm why not have what the young ones call a pyjama day ? I would love that but someone would be bound to arrive at the door. Just my luck.
ANNETTE- sorry that you lost the plot a bit after your lunch out!
We are hoping to have a quiet day at home.
Likewise, LINDA :-(
Ditto here. Very disappointing result.
