Happy New Week all.
Big surprise this morning!!! Heard a knock on the front door at 8:15 and thought it was the neighbor who'd just had a load of bricks delivered to their driveway, but NO!! It was my granddaughter, with a basket of flowers, champagne, scones she'd baked plus jars of lemon and raspberry curd on a spur-of-the-moment trip to celebrate my birthday early!! I was amazed and thrilled. She had a few days off what with shift changes, etc., and since we don't get to spend a lot of "just us" time, she decided to drive here to spend a day with me and OH without the rest of the family buzzing about. She even made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Montecito! You can't believe how thrilled I was - and so happy - what a special treat. She's off to her Mom's tomorrow (daughter is not aware she's in town at all, so that'll be another unexpected treat) and they'll spend the day together before she drives back to Arizona on Monday. So happy!
Will respond to posts tomorrow, but in the meantime, take care everyone. :-)))))
The snow is not too bad BRENDA,no more since last night. OH decided, after telephoning a few fellow bowlers,to stay at home today.
I don't like marmalade, RITA, but as much as I hate to admit it, my mouth was watering...Maybe the words 'home made'?
GEORGE- I hope that both Diesel and your sister in law will be OK. Will your SiL require further treatment after her kidney has been removed?
No real news from here. Several grandchildren are unwell with colds and Sheana continues to believe that money is being stolen and that everyone is against her:-(( I hope to see her tomorrow. I wonder what the weather is like in Wendy's neck of the woods.
Heather thanks for asking about our snow..
We had about 3" and my road is now clear after gritter and some nice sunshine.
Sadly as I type it has started again so as forecast it's not a surprise.
Daisy walks a little iffy as ice underneath.
Listening to news we have got off lightly up here.
BRENDA We have street lights because we live on a bus route not far from the centre of Inverness :-(( Not a particularly attractive area but convenient! This house was bought as OH and his late first wife's 'retirement home'- they had always lived in the country but were thinking ahead to the time when they would have to give up driving.
WENDY- I agree,we have got off lightly. I'm glad that things aren't too bad with you. The sun is shining now, here in town and the snow is melting.
Returned home to find 'our robin' sitting on the doormat. He waited while I went for his cheese and as I was putting it down at his feet, another robin swooped in and flattened him. They fought in the drive and then 'our robin' returned for his cheese. I don't know who was the most shocked. I think it was me !!
Good to hear that Heather and Wendy are ok at the moment.
Heather, Do you ever think that some of Sheana's money may have gone missing? There have been cases of cleaners / workers helping themselves to residents' money in nursing homes. I am sure you will solve the mystery :-))
George, Still thinking of yourself and Diesel. Any news please ?
Heather - I love marmalade , have it everyday at breakfast and in fact I find I am a bit grumpy if I miss it for any reason! But I like homemade rather than shop bought, I use a recipe of my mother-in-laws.
I also love cats and dogs, they are both so different and have their for and against points. I do not have a cat at the moment as I am old now and feel it might outlive me, my last cat lived for nineteen and a half years. I do miss having a cat though. I would love to have one.
Heather, I can understand your OH thinking ahead and maybe not being able to drive in the future. We have been thinking about that, especially in the last year when OH was told not to drive. We never know what the future may have in store for us. Mind you, your OH is still driving and is very active :-))
We have about three to four inches of snow today and the birds are very hungry, tucking in to whatever I put out. I still get my lone seagull, he waits on the roof next door until I go out. Yes OG I did get a discount from the catalogue after I put my birdwatch results in.
Good to hear from you Rita. Three to four inches sounds enough snow, especially if, like us, you have to clear it all yourself. I must check with OH if we got a discount. I do find I can buy premium sunflower hearts much cheaper than from the RSPB.
