WEEKLY CHAT (Non-osprey) SUNDAY,JANUARY 18. 2015

Hi all!

  • Sorry for all the brackets in the above post. A very bad habit that I struggle with all the time.

  • Glad to hear that there was a happy outcome to Callum's story, Heather. We send the young 'uns out into the world but we wish, at the same time, that we could be there for them. I do think you're right about your OH's daughter, though! - she should only be using her Dad for the odd bit of phone call advice, she will have to learn to demand help from the grumpy husband! Glad the ladder didn't have to come into use - perhaps if she called tradesmen in right away the husband would learn to be available on his mobile!! Then he might not get bills! It might make him more inclined to listen!!

Ha ha! Heather!! I'm very brackety!! I must try to stop, too. I rabbit on too much, same as in life! My OH is the Strong Silent type so I've always talked too much, to make up for it LOL!! That's my excuse, anyway.....
  • LINDY I never use ten words when a hundred would do.

  • Good morning all. Rain all night but sunny now and forecast to stay this way today. No frost this morning but the frost yesterday took most of the day to clear. A real battle to keep the bird baths defrosted and the birds never fail to amaze me, especially the sparrows, who all jump in together and have a good splash. I am really hoping that there will be as many birds as there are at the moment when we do the bird count. Willprobably do it tomorrow as OH is working this afternoon. He is out shopping at the moment trying to get it done quickly so hecan crack on with work. I will be relieved as will he too to slow down after the deadline for tax returns. Keep reminding him to do his and not leave it till the last minute as it the usual case. With a bit of luck we will spend a bit of time with each other. Can't believe how many years have passed since Sir Winston Churchill death. On the day of the funeral I was in bed suffering quite badly with chickenpox and listening to the radio. Several programmes on this weekend so have recorded a coupLe that look interesting.

OG hope you have had a good night and feel a little better. Your sprained wrist will probably take a while to heal so do take care and  try not to use it too much.

Lindybird all the family must feel so happy with the news about your OH. This year has starated on a much happier note. As you say it is important to get checked over early if you have suspicions about anything unusual. I am sure you will be looking forward to having a dog again, one that you can walk with as well. I know our Billie provides us both with  a sense of calmness and unconditional love, I know I keep saying it but our life is much richer having this wonderful cat. We both hope that the change of food will help to control her allergy. It will be very expensive to have the myriad of tests to find out what gets at her so fingers crossed. At the moment her coat is like silk  and she is back to her normal demanding lots of cuddles and talking to us most of the time. We will do whatever is necessary to keep her well. By the way the pic of the Panda was so cute.

Wendy you should market your tomato sorbet and kidney bean lollies lol. Are you still under a blanket of snow?

george hope your SIL is OK and Diesel's tummy problem is improving.

Lynette good to hear you enjoyed your birthday meal and also how well the swimming is going. Thanks for eagle pictures, nature is not always nice to watch but I wonder why once again the eldest chick has died. Just hope the smaller one will make it now.

Brenda yummy your meal sounded good. Think I could manage something like that but probably on a smaller scale. food heaven for you having custard on your crumble. Very sad to read about the loss of family pets, they are such a big part of our lives. The pic I posted was once again just good luck. I usually forget how I did it so next time I will make a note as I go lol.

Annette I wish I could have sent some of the rain we had through Tuesday night. Non-sop and very heavy for several hours. Lots of roads flooded locally and for the first time in ages toilet watch came into operation.

Heather pleased you enjoyed your belated birthday meal. Lovely story about the picture of Sheana and her brother when young. How nice the new neighbours would like to hang it up. Hope the nephew will agree. Also good to hear that neighbour has apologised for the bad behaviour, hopefully it will not happen again. As you say it is better to be on good terms. So pleased Callum made a couple of friends and started to eat meals.

rita lovely card for Lynette, such vibrant colours. Hope you are coping with the cold and slippery rosds. Take care if you go out.

diane thanks for the info about the monster asteroid and the link. Hooe yoy are coping with your winter weather.

OH will be back shortly so,will finish off now. I like to check surreptitiously that he has not forgotten anything and more to the point neither have I.

have a good weekend all and keep warm and safe.

  • Good Morning Everyone. A very welcome sun is shining after overnight rain.Sister iL's dog has been sent home with another pile of medication. They couldn't see anything on the scan and the vet says they must give the dog every chance.

OG, Pleased that you have learned that paracetamol has caused your problems, but sorry you are now in pain. Are you allowed to take Neurofen, as it contains aspirin. You will probably need a prescription painkiller. Take care X

Heather, I noticed that Inverness is still getting very heavy snow. I guess your stepdaughter panics when she has a problem and Dad has always been there to sort everything out for her. My OH needed to be overseas quite a lot, with his job and if anything went wrong it would happen when he was away. I had to learn a great deal, quite fast. My father had died some years before we got married. She has never had to cope and her OH seems happy for her to still run to Daddy.Having said all this, my OH has been checking my daughter's tax papers for her and is at this moment on the phone to her about problems with the legal side of selling their flat. The buyers are being *!$% !!! They seem to be playing for more time.
So Pleased to hear that everything turned out well for Callum.

Linda, Quite naturally, you sound so much happier now. Is Amber sleeping better for your son / his wife now ? We had such a bad time with our son, that I do feel so sorry for anyone who has that problem with their baby.

Lynette, Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope all goes well for the operation. We have both managed to avoid any of the winter bugs, so far. Our daughter's boyfriend has a bug and I have told them we will not be visiting them this weekend LOL

Margo, OH has just started our own tax returns this morning. Sorry your OH is having to work today, but he should calm down by the end of the month, when all the returns must be completed. As you know, I can only have hot custard in a restaurant,, as nobody else in the family will touch it.

  • Oooh! Custard! We both love it!!
  • Nice to get a good long post from Margo, hope that Billie can get used to her new food regime if you're going to have to make changes. Brenda - our granddaughter is sleeping much better now, so both of her weary parents are getting their rest at last. The Other Grandma has even had Amber for the night! so that they could enjoy a meal out. Little Matthew, not to be outdone, has been sleeping for so long that our son gets up to go to work before he wakes! So all is well with the little ones - until they start teething that is! ;-)
  • Well, we have been out in the beautiful winter sunshine, in the pretty Cheshire countryside today, to go shopping...... What we have bought has four legs and a tail!! There's nothing quite like a basketful of puppies to cheer you up! She is an English Springer Spaniel, colour "liver & white" - she has a brown head, saddle on her back, and brown & white tail. There were eight in the litter, some black & white like Mum, some brown & white like their Dad. We were the first to see them, so had the pick of the litter. They are only 4 weeks old, so we will not be collecting her until mid March after our holiday. I have taken photos but can't put them on here, frustratingly. My OH is very excited and we have plenty of time to think of a name for her.
