    Heather, Poor Sheana sounds very  'unhappy'. Has the Home given her any medication to cause so much confusion, which sounds much worse than normal.

    Rita, You are brave, moving the car on ice, when you could have hit the wall or driving into the lochan. So glad you succeeded in getting it into the garage.

    OG, While I was out, playing bowls, OH has been going through his files and shredding. We have both also thrown out magazines that were accumulating. Recycle collection tomorrow.
    Did the Dr give J some AB's ? Sorry you are still feeling so cold, as well as having a cold. Sounds as if you will need the central heating on overnight again. I hope EE doesn't catch the germs from both of you.

    BRENDA I'm not sure about medication but I know that urine infections in the elderly can cause confusion. Sheana has been paranoid and having strange ideas of reference for a few years but usually they are not evident to the staff. I know that these thoughts are there but then again, I know how to access them. I don't think that the staff are psychiatrically trained.

    I hope that doesn't sound pompous. I'm OK at a few things and useless at a lot of other things, LOL

    Brenda – no ABs for J – viral, not bacterial. Will have heating on tonight: OH said two hot water bottles, I said three! Sitting at PC now to be upright for a while!

    Heather - sorry about latest bother with Sheana!

    Now got to research some emigrant ships for OH’s family!

    Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

    All makes a lot of sense to me, Heather - my dear m.in law used to get strange ideas and we often found that she had an infection which cleared up, together with her confusion, after some AB's. Of course, it could also be a kind of senility, sadly.

    No, Heather, you definitely do not sound pompous. UTI plus a fever can cause problems, especially the symptoms you describe. I respect your professional opinion. I used to voluntarily, regularly visit residential homes and I do know that in one private home, especially, that if a resident was in any way a problem, they would be given sedatives etc.  The home was closed down, but it is always something that continues to worry me.

    OG - sorry you're both suffering. Keep warm any way you can! I bought one of those discs you can warm up in the microwave and put into a dog's bed!! It keeps gently and comfortingly warm for several hours, if you want to warm your feet, for instance.

    I'm in bed, it's -4.2 can only guess at what RITA DIBNLIB and especially WENDY have! House is warm, huge bills on the horizon :-((

    We're warm, too Heather. I'm truly grateful that we can afford to put up the heating in this weather. It seems so sad that a lot of people have to choose between " heating and eating" when its cold in the UK.
