Happy New Week all: OH and I are off to see The Imitation Game tonight, then will pick up dinner from our favorite Chinese restaurant on our way home.
Heather: You're not living a sheltered life, or if you are, we're all there with you (and happy to be so). Seems like bad language and a general lack of civility are endemic these days - it's so depressing. And to think the English language is so rich yet people have to use the "last resort" words first. :-(
Clare: My friend's daughter is a Downs Syndrome adult now and still needs supervision. It must be a huge worry, especially as parents age. Didn't know it could also mean heart problems as well.
Brenda: Hope the Quiz was fun.
Thanks all for posts! Take care.
I quite forgot that my OH is good at anything that requires a knife, if I ask he will chop cabbage etc so he does have his uses LOL I really don't mind too much about the other stuff and I see that I'm not as hard done by as I sometimes like to think.
The snow has been falling again for an hour or two.
Hope that MARGO is coping OK with chemo week.
Morning all:
Lynette: When I lived in the UK, it was nice to spend the cold months planning the summer vacation - Italy used to be my favorite (sunny) destination. Europe was still Europe in those days; you could hear Italian pop stars singing Italian hit songs. We stayed in Suffolk at Aldeburgh when I was back in the UK two years ago. Are you looking for a cottage by the sea in Norfolk?
Wendby: A call to friends in "low" places often works faster than one to those in high places. I used to make sure I was on very good terms with the guys in Maintenance at my last job - they didn't bother with multiple copies of requisitions signed by everyone from God down before they'd move a desk or change computer hookup. All I had to do was give 'em a buzz.
Heather: My husband offers to do the vacuuming, but he forgets to move chairs and things, which is fine if we're doing a quick run through (but if that's the case, I do it much faster than he does). Can't win, can they? :-)
Lindybird: Oh dear, I take charge of keeping up with auto maintenance too (but that only means making arrangements for a service). OH seems completely oblivious to new noises under the hood (bonnet) that might herald a problem... H'e very good at planning things, but then I've usually done them by the time he's come up with a plan. :-)) Other than that, he's perfect! There's a lesson for all of us in your Mum's late-life wisdom!
OG: Have some of that freshly baked pastry for me please.
Hope the snow is just enough to be pretty.
Take care all.
I have chosen to do the HW today while OH is out :-))
Oh, darn it! Why won't it come out as an address?? Go on the BBC News Site, and look for goats!!
Lynette D said:Off now to browse through holiday cottages - OH has suggest we might go over to Norfolk for a few days in April so looking at them to see what takes my fancy. They have to be cosy looking and with two bedrooms (1 twin) as we both have separate beds at home. I'm sure I'll find one!!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lindybird: I copied/pasted it into the browser and there it was! Goats are very popular here - people have little herds they rent out to control brush/grass, etc.
Brenda: "Choosing" to do the housework sounds like the sort of attitude a psychologist would encourage rather than having us think "have to." :-)
Hey ho more snow...
Gritter saga very funny as mid day distillery sent their new teeny weeny tractor to clear one lane and at 4ish real Gritter arrived and my road is now smow free sadly garden not and Daisy hates it.
I do find if you have a contact number praise and then call again;-)
As for HW OH is aufailt but years ago I commented on the shape of his ironing didn't fit in my airing cupboard things changed. Luckily when I am away it's now perfect.
BBC 2 Chris Pacham with swimming pigs... Very funny(-)
