Happy New Week all: OH and I are off to see The Imitation Game tonight, then will pick up dinner from our favorite Chinese restaurant on our way home.
Heather: You're not living a sheltered life, or if you are, we're all there with you (and happy to be so). Seems like bad language and a general lack of civility are endemic these days - it's so depressing. And to think the English language is so rich yet people have to use the "last resort" words first. :-(
Clare: My friend's daughter is a Downs Syndrome adult now and still needs supervision. It must be a huge worry, especially as parents age. Didn't know it could also mean heart problems as well.
Brenda: Hope the Quiz was fun.
Thanks all for posts! Take care.
Good morning folks...
Yes Heather woke up to the white stuff again and road like a skating rink as no Gritter this am...
Heard from my friend who lives where the lorry used to turn round before we were adopted that the morning one is still turning there. A quick phone call to the man that seems to know lorry drivers by name and seems communication failed to get through to "Mark"... Half an hour later lorry with flashing yellow light duly arrived.
OH back to work but has dentist this am so will take Daisy and do a different walk.
Good morning – no weather of any particular kind today, but quite cloudy, and has that funny feeling of waiting for something to happen – or not! Gardening group this evening, but will miss it if the roads are at all compromised.
I’ve been baking – shortbread out and bakewell nearly finished – while OH cleaned lounge and hallway. He’ll do a general vac round after coffee, which he has just taken into the lounge.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
A neighbour informs me that we had 35.5mm ( 1.4ins) of rain last night, up to 9am this morning. It looks as if it has stopped for a moment now. We might be able to turn the lights off shortly.
Heather, I hope you will be able to have your hair done today. I see they are forecasting plenty of snow for today. Do take care. I see that Glasgow and Edinburgh were even mentioned to have snow today.
Wendy, Best wishes to your OH for his return to work today. I love to read how you now have the gritters under your control now.
OG, I have never been known to have baked anything by 9.53am. LOL
Brenda after 13 years of paying council tax with very little return I do intend to get my monies worth:-)
Ravenous birds and we seem to be getting at least 30 Goldfinches queuing for Niger seeds:-)
Oh and it's snowing again:-(
Hairdresser has apparently got a 4x4 so the much needed haircut went ahead. Snow stopped then started but it's really not up to much. Laughed at WENDY'S gritters tale. That sounds very Chaucerian :-)
BRENDA and OG - See what I mean about you, OG. Marvellous. Also, not for the first time I wish that I had an EE! Now for the $64.000 dollar question. If you didn't have any health and mobility issues would EE still be cleaning and making coffee etc? If the answer is 'Yes' then I consider myself very disadvantaged! I think that some of OHs friends have joined in with household chores since their retirement but he seems not to have caught that particular bug. The other day I was cleaning the oven and watching food cooking on the hob and the bold boy, sitting in the back room and doing his crossword shouted through to ask me how to spell 'abattoir'. Cue deep breath and resisting the urge to throw a rubber glove at him!
Heather, That is exactly what I meant about OG. My OH does help with the HW, but not until I start, then he asks what I would like him to do. He does query sometimes though, ....... does it really need doing ? LOL
EE would most definitely not do routine cleaning if I were more mobile, although he would be around to shift heavy stuff for a "deep clean". He would still make coffee and that kind of thing.
He does query the frequency of cleaning, although this is less often than I would choose! The current schedule (organised by me) takes account of him not having the years of practice, although I noticed today that he has got a bit faster!
