Ospreys starting to be seen at Gibraltar although the weather has been bad there
"20 Mar: Overcast skies with heavy rain showers throughout the day. Winds light westerly becoming light easterly. Wet weather prevented the ringing operation at the Observatory, and only three raptors were seen throughout the day, single Black Kite a male Marsh Harrier and an Osprey."
I also see that they had 12 ospreys through the migration watch point on the Mediterranean side of the border between Spain and France yesterday. These are usually Scandinavian/German birds making for the Rhone Valley. That brought the season's total to only 18 - so not many have been going north on that route either. Another 2 already today, though.
Prolonged period of bad weather has seen few raptors crossing at Gibraltar.
"22 March
In the evening, as westerly winds freshened, a trickle of raptors flew in and included 14 Marsh Harriers, 5 Sparrowhawks, 2 Kestrel sp. and single Booted Eagle and Osprey." Also seen were 4 Pallid Swifts.
Thanks for the updates, it helps understanding the delayed arrivals.
Many thanks for update.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
wouldn't that be great Clare if it was the Glaslyn male.
