As no one has made a new thread for 2015 I thought I would do it if that is OK....
I would also like to wish everyone a Happy New Year too. Here is a great video with a lovely Saxaphone Version of Auld Lang Syne.
Will check around to see if there is any news to post now.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
My last visit to Bioko Island was in April but am going out around Feb 8 for as month.
When I was on the Island White 14 was settled just to the east of a small village San Antonia de Ureca. He spent most of that time at roost at the mouth of the River Moaba on the south coast which runs off the southern mountain. There is a small pool rather like a Lochan just before it flows into the sea and there was an abundance of fish just swimming around like an ornamental carp pool.
He did move back to another area he had frequented when he first arrived on the Island on the west coast around Luba which is a developing commercial port but then moved back to the area I had mentioned at the mouth of the River Moaba an area he favours. The area is very much the less populated area of the Island with only small native style villages and would favour an osprey as oppsed to Malabo in the North.
One of the mechanics I work with out on Bioko came from Ureca and escorted me there at a weekend when i was visiting the Island.
That is the latest I know.
Many thanks for the info KR & maybe you'll find out more about White 14 on your next visit, what a fortunate coincidence he chose Bioko & do hope he stays safe there!

Still things not looking good on the Sanibel nest. No real signs of proper nesting.

Iceman and Frida (and we can't help but wonder if Frida is actually Belle, the bereaved 2013 wife and mother) are disrupted by the eagles every time they try to get together, and they never were terribly good at it. Frida brought a fish to the nest this morning:
Who's she looking at?
Oh!

Fingers crossed for the Sanibel Ospreys.
Keith, Will you visit Sanibel Island on your next trip to Florida?
Kind regards, Ann
Wouldn't it be great to have an on-the-spot report - no pressure, KEITH ;-D
Dear Mary
This is Cirrus and I've actually ''signed in'' and just found your new year video. Thank you. It's excellent and the best thing I can say is: Amen :)

Aaah Cirrus how lovely to see you again. Hope all is well. Glad you enjoyed the video ;-) Only 66 days to wait on EJ, even less 61 days until the Glaslyn male 11(98) returns. I can feel the excitement begin to build.
Southwest Florida Bald Eagle nest - an external photographer has captured Ozzie (male parent) with a possible foot electrocution injury. This nest is having similar problems to last season, with only the elder chick being fed sufficiently and much suffering for the younger :-(
