With this lovely video, I will say farewell to 2014 and welcome to 2015. Also best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous year for all our Forum and Gabfest friends as well as all our feathered friends, especially EJ and Odin and their 2015 family.

Now that looks interesting, WendyBarter. She is tending to at least one egg underneath her. I've added to my favorites.
Fat, Welcome to the Gabfest from me in Surrey. Lurkers or not, all are welcome! What part of the world are you in?
TJ, Nice captures of the Woodpeckers!
June, Looks like they had a lovely time at Loch Garten--it is such a thrill to have a wild bird take feed from your hand!
Wendy, Thanks for the suggestion. If the river trip is only an hour, we might persuade them to go with us and then eat together afterwards. How is the food at the Grove Ferry Inn? Our visitors also like to sample local beers. Last time they visited we took them to the Wye Valley and surrounding areas. We would do some morning sight-seeing, have lunch at a pub where they could share several different beers, more sight seeing in the afternoon and then had our evening meals at the cottage. Hubby did the driving so they could enjoy a drink, but we often all had a bit of wine with dinner! Their visit corresponded with part of Spring Watch and we watched some of the programmes.
Kind regards, Ann
Was so looking forward to this "event"..
Arrived just before 1pm found other cars in car park ..
Walked to the centre to find... no one...
Won't be trying again tomorrow ...
Luckily the Cresties were obliging..
Wendyb, What a shame! The blog said it would go on until 14.30! Maybe they all got cold and gave up. Better luck next time.
A note on the gate might have helped...

GB, food at GFI not bad, bit too fancy for me, but chef is proud of much hand reared & home grown produce therefore can be pricey but a pleasant place right on the river with much to see & literally cross one road to enter Stodmarsh NNR with all its' delights! I love the area!
Good evening all. FAT welcome to the Gabfest and community! Wendy my OH and me have spent many happy hours at Stodmarsh and have seen many Marsh Harriers there. Great place for wildlife of all kinds. I have been only once to Grove Ferry Inn many years ago but things probably have changed! There was even an osprey there a coupl of years ago now, but we never saw it!
WendyB sound though you had a wasted day but lucky enough to see the cresties which must have made it a little more worth while!
