Good morning, all, and welcome to the last 2014 Weekly Chat thread!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Know exactly what you mean LINDY. Our reuseable tree is tall also but I am lucky enough to have family nearby and for the past couple of years have needed to ask for help getting it down from the loft etc. Years ago, the grandchildren helped with decorating the tree. Now they have to put the darned thing up as well, although this year OH and I did that after Callum did the necessary loft work!! There were a few sweary words from OH as we put the tree up.
ANNETTE I knew that you were speaking tongue in cheek!! I think we could call each other old friends after ? how many years?
Take care all. If the washing machine and I survive I'll be back tomorrow.
I see the "Bah Humbug " season has arrived after Christmas, now that the aftermath has to be cleared. LOL I know you are all joking and would do it all again tomorrow :-)) I actually saw Easter eggs in the supermarket this morning, and they were not small eggs, but the big expensive ones.
Heather, I love your verse. We now await Annette's version. Mine could take much longer !!!
Linda, I have visions of a "Darby and Joan" scene in the future, as you try to put the fairy on top of your Christmas tree. LOL I already have to use a ladder to reach the top of our's.
I'm trying to send a pic of the fairy on the tree but hey ho, can't do it!
BRENDA I know Easter dates vary, but can't believe it is as early as January!!!!
HEATHER You have been keeping your light hidden under a bush!! What a nice wee poem. Keep them coming.
It has been a really nice day here and we enjoyed a 2nd good walk with Benson, before heading off to the cinema. We went to see the quite remarkable film "The theory of Everything" and remarkable is the only word I can think of to describe everything about the film and the man himself.
DIBNLIB - We will definitely try and see that film. Remarkable sounds right, what a man!
Heather - Loved your poem, how clever of you, do not think I have any talents in that direction!
I do really love decorating everywhere at Christmas although it does get more difficult as the years go by, this year I did not manage to put so many strings of lights up as that is very fiddly and I do have a bad knee and shoulder this year, that is why I asked my gardener to get my tree in position for me this time, hope I can manage to get it out of the house on my own! I still have all the decorations up but will probably take them down tomorrow or Monday. I just love the Christmas Tree especially and cannot bear to take it down too soon! managed the 'Fairy on the top' alright with a new pair of steps I have bought, very sturdy with a rail in front to hold on to. Gosh! reading this back makes me sound a real old crock! but I'm not really!
Home 7;30pm this evening; been too busy having a good time to use portable while away! Journey was cold - some minus temps and recent snow remaining on verges of Slochd and Drumochter mountain passes, zero here at home, but roads quite dry, so very little ice. One large tree branch by the B&B came down Thursday night in the wind - no damage. Saw a lot of sunshine on several days, and it was actually quite a nuisance for OH driving into it all day today, travelling south! All well here at home.
Haven't read any posts yet - I hope everyone is well and enjoying 2015 already!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Welcome home OG and hello RITA!
Just in case anyone has the impression that I'm a wonderfully energetic Granny who loves nothing more than catering for millions (lol)- I am lying in bed with a glass of wine to hand and thinking about all the chores that await :-))))
