MERRY CHRISTMAS TO CLARE, HELEN AND LIMPY and to all who have posted on this thread.
MARY, DID YOU KNOW?

How sad that anyone is lonely on December 25th, on this day which we call Christmas Day and which has been set aside for special celebration of the birth of JESUS. He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. He grew up to tell us that "I will give you living water and you will never thirst again" and "I will never leave you, I will never forsake you."
We might be alone, but no one need be lonely. There is a difference.
My Christmas breakfast: shortbread cookies, cantaloupe melon (or as we call it locally muskmelon) and my usual ovaltine coffee..
I came in last evening intending to catch up on this thread, make some likes and comments, but was so tired that I never did get that done.
So I turned on the TV and was soon dozing. But I did awaken enough to see this scene, very similar to last year.
I now know that Apollo is still at the manger with The Baby, but "still" or "again"? Where has he been in the year since he was last seen? My guess is that following the general behavior pattern of most one year old ospreys, Apollo has been fishing and roosting in a vicinity not too far removed from here.
Some might not approve of the satelites, but they sure do a lot to satisfy ones curiosity. And some would say that is not sufficient reason to use them.
Apollo has brought the baby Jesus a gift - of a fish, of course. What else would an osprey bring.? Jesus can't eat it, too solid for a human baby, but Mary and Joseph will certainly enjoy a nice meal or two from it - or maybe feed the shepherds or other visitors.
And what a beautiful fish it is, a gift fit for a King indeed.
You remember that I am watching this on TV/the telly as Apollo is in Bethlehem. I was able to capture a good close-up. In this picture we can see the fish, his identifying ring "Red AP" and his yellow eyes.
Oh how anxious I am for Apollo to migrate Home, but I am wondering - where will home be for him. Will he migrate back to his birthplace in Scotland or will he find his way back here. This may have been just a stopover for him, but he did seem very much at home here and somehow I just have a feeling that he will eventually return here to my back yard.
As a two year old in 1915, I do expect him to be on migration north come spring.
Seasons greetings to everyone. I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying yourselves with family and friends. I am glad to see that Red AP has found a good fishing spot for himself whilst on his winter sojourn, and wish him well for his return in 2015.
