Bente your biscuits are lovely and also your Stollen. I love Stollen! I also liked to see how you spend Christmas!
June I love your cake looks like a lot of work and effort! Also your tree looks great!
I join everyone in condolences to all the families affected by the awful accident in Glasgow. Terrible just before Christmas.
Wendy your cake looks beautiful! Nice you have joined in the Bake Off!
Thanks Willow & I join you in thinking about the Glasgow families, I was so shocked when I heard it on the news ... why is there always some awful tragedy at Christmastime?

My cake is beginning to smell nice now! Good news for me this evening, my cat had his blood test and is now in remission from his diabetes! Hes a very large boy and has a very carefully controlled diet and on specially formulated diabetic food! No more givind injections twice daily :)
Have caught up with all posts now (in bed & using Nexus) & sorry to have missed you KR, CC, B & our gracious hostess JS! Not listened to music yet but will do so tomorrow!
W, pleased to hear good news about your cat, you have looked after him well, & my fingers are crossed for a good cake, another dedicated act in staying up so late!!
Wendy, that is a *lovely* cake, and sounds delicious too. I would have made the same substitutions.
Willow, I look forward to yours, too. I am still in the midst of rehabilitating my overthickened beef stew. It looks pretty boring right now, I must say...
It hasn't gotten the mushrooms and pearl onions added yet. And it doesn't look quite as green as it seems to here. :-/

Hello and Merry Christmas everyone!
June, your cake does look amazing. Much too pretty to be eaten. And CC, your stew also looks delicious.
As promised, I'll add a picture of our tree. We've just finished decorating. And a picture of our Christmas-dinner from last year. This year's dinner will be the same, so there will be not much difference. It is beef, that has been marinated with red wine, vinegar, onions and spices in a plastic bag for about two weeks (no worries! This has been worked out over thirty years, and you see: I'm still well and alive). As side-dishes we have potato-dumplings and red cabbage. I'm already looking forward to dinner this evening!
Kind regards, Bente
Beautiful tree, Bente! You are probably in the midst of your celebrations, so thank you for taking the time to share your traditions with us!
When I signed off last night CCs was the last post. When I looked in this a.m., hers was still the last. But when I started reading, WHAT A SURPRISE! Many posts had been added in between.
I must say, this is an INTERESTING thread. We've had just-out -of-the-oven pictures and of course completely decorated cakes, but this is the first time we've had live play-by-play straight from the oven. LOL. I love it.
Seems I made the right choice in posting this special thread and making it an ongoing one. About 8 oclock last evening I was wondering if I should have bothered, but it has turned out well. Wendy, glad you joined us. Maybe other readers would like to share a picture of their cake or other goodies or decorations or favorite music. Feel free to just jump right in any time.
At the moment my planned Christmas dinner menu is baked chicken with stuffing, baked macaroni & cheese casserole and maybe the classic green bean casserole which is not classic for me as I have had it only once in my entire life.
I will be having "lunch" with friends this afternoon, but she has informed me that she is "cooking up a storm"! Then early Christmas eve services at church. So it will be close to midnight your time before I get back to the computer.
For now MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!
June, it was such a wonderful idea to start this thread - we can all participate "asynchronously"! Please add your shots of the food to this "table". I'll add my more recently finished ham and bean stew to the mix!
Good afternoon all. I have been enjoying all the pics of Christmas dinners and cakes its interesting to see! I thought most had turkey! Bente your Christmas dinner looks good especially the red cabbage and potato dumplings!
CC your beef stew looks good too and i particularly like the look of the bean stew. Is that spinach in it? mmm!
Well my cake came out of the oven at 1.30 am and looks alright so will pour some brandy on it later!
