WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2014

Hi all, welcome to the new week.

  • Just been speaking to my daughter-in-law's mother, (  in Milngavie) and while we were speaking there was such a loud crack of thunder, that I could hear it over the phone. She said it had gone so dark and the rain/hail started lashing down again. As she said, it must be so bad though for those in the far north and the Isles.

I do feel so sorry for those without power and suffering. I do hope you all stay safe, especially anyone near the coasts.

  • Matthew is no worse, they say, but as he is so young, they want to keep him in under observation for a couple of days. We are packing now, to go down and see if we can be of any help.....at least we can babysit Tomasz and help with meals. Thanks for all your support.

  • Lindybird I am sure I speak for all in saying safe journey and our good wishes go with you for Matthew and family.

  • Linda, When I read your earlier post, I thought you would want to go to your son. I would feel exactly the same. Take care and I do hope everything will be fine XXX

  • Lindybird-  Have a safe journey down to your son ' s home, I am sure you will be a great help and support to them.   I do hope that little Matthew will be home again soon, I will be thinking of you.

  • After 18 days of silence, there is a new Blog from Jen. Both Breagha and Millicent are fine. Photograph of Abernethy in the snow.

  • Good evening. Apparently the “weather bomb”, although seriously bad in some places, was not as damaging as feared, and is already losing strength. We are okay here – plenty of wind, short rain showers in the afternoon, but nothing serious, and OH was actually outside sorting his compost bins this morning and J went for a walk in the intermittent sunshine! Thanks for all the kind thoughts, and I hope those further north haven’t fared too badly, especially Liz in The Fort, where I understand there were power problems.

Lynette – pleased you enjoyed the time with your friend, catching up on each other’s family news.

AQ – we have an Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast – where ferries leave for Arran. Awful that teeth were stolen! Even if Daughter should, in in-laws opinion, “have her act together”, she obviously hasn’t, but distance does make help difficult, and I think you have said that the grandmother still works. It’s good that your other Granddaughter has been so good, especially with the journeys there and back. What a pity her eyesight is so bad – I don’t think you haven’t ever mentioned that before. Pleased you day was not so bad as sometimes, and that you got some craft time with Miss3.

Annette – pleased to see you had a catch-up day, despite further power outage. I hope daughter isn’t adding those extras to your car while she is borrowing it!

Linda – sorry that the cold virus was bad enough to affect wee Matthew’s breathing; very worrying for you all, and definitely best that he has a few days in hospital. I am glad that you are available to go to be with them, and help with Tomasz, who must be upset by the disappearance of baby brother – I hope you will be able to take him to visit.

Margo – isn’t that always S*** Law with rain and window cleaners? Not sure whether I mentioned, ours has had neck surgery and needs at least three months rest and recovery; he’s such a lovely man too, with a family to support. Good to see that you can manage a few jobs at home, even during chemo week; well done! Pleased that you are looking forward to Christmas treats – and birthday too, of course!

Brenda - good to see the new Blog from Jen.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Margo lovely to hear that you are managing to do more little jobs but of course taking it easy whilst having chemo.

Lindy - do hope Matthew recovers soon. I know what it is like - many years ago dau. was admitted as a baby with virus, breathing difficulties. It didn't last long but was a worry at the time.

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of the eagles nest in Florida - Ozzie was on the nest and then left a few mins later for a break. Taken about 30mins ago

See Scotland has been battered by the latest storm and snow has arrived.   Stay safe up there.

  • LYNETTE - the storm has finished - it all happened 24 hours earlier than the original forecast said, so worst was Tuesday night.  We were okay here in the south, but it was really bad around the islands and coast further north, with loss of power, but most supplies were restored on Wednesday.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
