WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2014

Dang!  Started a thread but it never loaded and now it's eaten my entire post!  Grrrrr.  What's worse, I typed it in Word, copied and pasted it, and now can't get it to paste.

Hope we don't get two new threads.

Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone. Will catch up (again!) tomorrow.

  • Rita - how nice to have someone come and cook for you! Its usually best not to have two women in a kitchen at the same time, so great if she will let you hand it over!!
  • Not so cold here today, it was horrible yesterday and we had the heating on. Supposed to be warm(er) at the weekend which will be welcome.
  • Good evening. Warmer today – no frost – but a fog hanging over the Dumfries until lunchtime – probably extended haar from the estuary of the River Nith. Arrived early at Dental Centre, X-ray straightforward and out before I was due in! We then had two hours to wait before Rheumatology appointment. We drove down to the estuary at Glencapel, hoping to find coffee, but they weren’t serving until 10am; however, we did see Geese, Ducks and Heron (too gloomy for much photography with the wee camera we keep in the car).

We then drove back to the hospital and had an awful cup of hot chocolate (I drank very little of mine) before seeing the Doc. Next appt there not for another 6 months, so that’s better. Next we had some lunch and did a small amount of shopping before coming home for a restful afternoon. We intend to go to the International Christmas Market in Carlisle tomorrow, but not too early as we have an ice warning. There is also a snow warning for D&G Sunday into Monday, but mainly on higher ground, although we could get sleet here.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Gull sitting atop the old harbour light.  (I told you it was misty!)

  • AQ – pleased to see the new air-con is working. Sorry those babies are causing you all such stress. Congrats on getting a Tomato that didn’t come ready-cooked in the heat of high summer! Useful to refer back to previous Christmas menus – especially to leave out what wasn’t needed!

    Annette – it wasn’t a dinner – just a buffet supper.

Linda – nice that you will see both Sons and families at the festive season, but still enjoy a quiet Christmas Day. I just wrote my last letter to go with a card, was complicated as I was enclosing photos and some family tree printouts – ended up in a large envelope with expensive stamp!

    Brenda and Margo – hello!

Rita – you now sound pleased with what you have accomplished – and how good to hand the kitchen over to your Daughter for Christmas meals!

Good timing here – coffee has appeared!

  • Glad you managed to get both your appointments over with, without too much hassle, OG. Hope its not too foggy/icy/frosty/wet tomorrow!!
  • Rita - hope you managed to get an Advent Calendar for Amber in your I'Ness shopping.  Was in the Botanical Gardens about a month ago and managed to get some better photos in the temperate glasshouse - the last time I was there the outside temp was 0C and the camera took about half an hour to adjust to the interior temp but still I had some delicate misting about the edges!! Also got some autumnal colour photos outside too. Nice place for a wander and coffee on a cold day!!

  • Hi all, will read on in a bit but first -  Margo, that's wonderful news , now you just have to stay positive and its surprising what that brings. Keep thinking of you.

AQ - glad your new air con has finally been fitted, hopefully now you will keep a lot cooler when you get those frightfully hot days.

OG - I may sound organised re cake and presi's but one still has to wrap them and ice the cake plus send the cards and I usually leave the cards to the last minute.  lol.

Its turning colder here, but we have had a really overcast and gloomy day.  I think its time for the onsies now!!

  • Margo, that's what I did before I marzipanned.  Do hope OH doesn't drive immediately after a piece, he might be over the limit. lol.

It really is encouraging news for you and glad you can look forward to Christmas.  We have a service in the Parish Church in a nearbye village that my dau. goes to on Sunday with a local brass band.  Its always a lovely prelude to Christmas.

I tend to put my presis in a big storage box and then go through them and wrap accordingly. Sticky note sounds good but again may come off and then there will be the fun of trying to remember whos was who.

Talking about shopping, I have had deliveries from Morrisons over the last 5 wks and the last wk is next wk when I will qualify for a 25.00 voucher so will put that towards the Christmas shop and at least I can go in in person for that.

  • Liz LFW - I arrived home and found I had forgotten it!  I am going back in again though probably tomorrow, she will have a lot of treats to catch up on if I do manage to get a calendar!  I took lots of photos in the Botanical Gardens at the end of the summer, both inside and outside and I am very pleased with them. I posted a few on here. I do volunteer work in the Cactus House and usually only take photos in there.
