Dang! Started a thread but it never loaded and now it's eaten my entire post! Grrrrr. What's worse, I typed it in Word, copied and pasted it, and now can't get it to paste.
Hope we don't get two new threads.
Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone. Will catch up (again!) tomorrow.
I've just picked my first tomato. Unusual for me to see any ripen before Christmas.
Annette – we now have 2 units to cool both living room & lounge room. We’ll wait & see whether we need one in bedroom. There are usually only 2-3 nights when I abandon bed to sleep on lounge floor! Dau has failed to get an extension on nanny care. We shall have to manage until her OH takes his annual leave in 2 weeks time. Let’s hope babes are older & easier to manage after that. As for C-day, I have the list of what I prepared/baked/etc last time . . . and I noted what didn’t get eaten. I bake & slice the turkey the day before when I am not rushed & fussed, then wrap in foil for reheating. Likewise on C-mas eve I prepare certain vegie dishes (stuffed tomatoes, zucchini rice). Other vegies & “Stella’s Christmas pudd” (inherited from m-i-l) are easily done on The Morning. The obligatory choc cream pie is better if a day or two old. The obligatory cherry truffles & choc cups (filled with cream cheese mix) are also a previous day prep. I could buy “turkey roll”, already stuffed & easy to slice, but that’s expensive and I find there is more stuffing than turkey.Over the years I reckon I have perfected an easy day! Especially when son-i-ls help wash dishes.
Good Morning Everyone. Another dull, murky morning, but so glad it is not raining.
AQ, Glad your A/C is now fitted. Sounds as if you will need to wash your skirtings and clean the carpet to get rid of that red dust. A hands and knees job !!! Just what you don't need, to have to do. It will all be worth it, though, when the really hot temperatures return.
Annette, I do wish I could send some of our rain to you. Some forecasters are saying that we will have another warm winter. I hope that doesn't mean continuous rain again and then the severe storms, which caused flooding, like last Christmas. I was watching people being interviewed on the TV, who still don't know when they can return to their homes.
Linda, Yes, Christmas is now getting so near. Three weeks today, we should be enjoying ourselves :-)))
Good morning all no frost this morning but very cold and very dull again. It was a treat once again to be able to post such positive news. So nice to be able to plan a bit more and I am so looking forward to Christmas this year.
Heather you so made me laugh over the window cleaner incident. I am fast approaching 72 so my attire at night is something that is warm and comfortable. Pleased to read that Amy and pump are doing well and Alision is more condident.
rita sounded like a lovely walk for you and Amber along the beach on a bright and sunny day. I am sure you will have everything ready for Christmas. I think there is an element of panic for us all. We feel so lucky to be close to the New Forest. Now my health is on an even keel we hope to get out there more often.
Lindybird sorry you had a mixed day earlier hope the problems have been solved. It was a surprise to see friends list working again but because I had to change my password I need to add to it again. We will also have a quiet Christmas Day enjoying our time together. As it a 4 day break it will give OH some time to recharge his batteries.
OG I am enjoying my food again but my appetite is not what it was. I get a bit embarrassed when we go out to eat as it is inevitable I will leave some. Try to ask for smaller portions but they are often too much for me. Considering how much you have been doing your legs held out quite well. Another busy day I see and hope appointments go well. As my Consuktant is taking a break over Christnas I will have a 5 week break from appoinment yesterdatyppy and the same for the chemo so that is a bit of a bonus for me.
Clare and Limpy thanks for your kind thought and the pics of the otter.
Annette pleased to read that you are still having much needed rain. I use the bed in our spare bedroom for stacking all things Christmas. Best way for me because if I scatter them in different places something will be forgotten when it comes to wrapping.
Lynette marzipan will be going on this weekend after I have doused the cake with a bit more brandy.
bjane always good to see you and thanks for your thoughts. Hope you are keeping well.
AQ such a shame nanny help will not be extended. Sounds as though you are being run ragged. Hopefully things will I prove soon. Can well understand your lack of peace and joy. Must say I am very impressed with your Christmas food arrangements.
Off to make phone calls have a good day all.
Nice to have a long post from Margo... Hope all your Christmas plans are going well, Margo.
I had to laugh this morning, as when I went to have a shower (9.00am by then as I had been busy paying the milkman & putting stuff away etc) I heard a lot of noise in the driveway next door. I went to our large window in the bedroom & drew the blind. Next thing, I realise that there are two men on the new extension roof, preparing to lay the roof tiles!! If I hadn't been quick & moved the blind, they would have had a great view of me getting dressed LOL!! I immediately thought of you, Heather!! ;-))
Well, I've been busy and I have just wrapped up my first Christmas present. Next one is on the table. At last. I have written all my cards long ago, but some of them need accompanying letters (& photos of grandchildren!) which will have to be done over the next couple of weeks.
I need to put a lot of stuff away ready for visitors to come to a tidy house. At the moment it is as Craig would say on 'Strictly': "A d i s a s t e r!!" Never mind, it will all get done in the fullness of time. Like you, Margo, I put things I have bought onto the spare bed so I can see instantly what I have bought & where it is. Once they are wrapped they are put into bags ready to be given. I thought Annette's idea of putting a sticky note on some of them was good, as sometimes there are so many that I forget what they are!!
Yesterday we had a Garden Centre meal out (Tomato Soup & a roll) and whilst there, we ordered ourselves a little treat of a Christmas meal which we will have on the 17th December. We went there last year and the food was excellent. I remember saying to the waitress at the time "Please tell them in the kitchen that that was the best Christmas dinner I've ever had, away from home!!"
LOL LINDY!!
Have at last finished all my internet shopping, just some local shopping to do now. I booked my Tesco's delivery slot last night, I really wanted Dec.23rd but was fully booked so had to make it Dec. 22nd very early in the day which is useful as that leaves the rest of the day for other jobs. Went into Inverness yesterday but did not have much success with Shopping but did much better today in Dingwall. I will have to start wrapping up and sending things off now. I also, like others have said, put all my Christmas presents on the spare bed so I that can sort them all out and keep them in one place. I do admire those that wrap their presents up as they go along! and also those who are so organised with the food preparations! I am hopeless like that and need to have a chat with my Daughter soon about our menu over Christmas, she is very good and does nearly all the cooking,(she used to cook professionally, private agency work)and likes to do it herself without me hovering about interfering! I am quite happy with this as she is such a good cook and gets everything done so quickly, much quicker than I would be. Tonight I must start on my cards, many of them need letters and photos in them, and I have just discovered that I have no photographic paper left.(another shopping trip tomorrow!) must go now and feed Amber and myself, but will be back later,
