WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2014

Hallo all.

  • Hi,  parcel has got lost in transit according to the firm I am dealing with so they are going to send another consignment which should reach me tomorrow or Friday.   Apparently the courier they deal with cannot find any trace of the package even though on the tracking it was at their depot for delivery on the 24th. So at least  I am getting another parcel. So ends the saga.

Annette - it was Dibnib who did loads of lengths, I am just a beginner on doing more.

Weather here today has been really miserable with a fine drizzle most of the day. Hope improves a little tomorrow.

  • Hope your replacement parcel turns up OK, Lynette.  At least it wasnt down to you and you will only have to pay for one item!

Its been grey here today but at least it stayed dry.  The day before was very wet and so the ground is soaking.  I refilled all of my bird feeders of course, as soon as I returned home from our hols, and the blue tits and sparrows fell upon them.

Enjoyed our lunch (Friend had a cheese omelette, I had carrot & coriander soup, yummy)  She tried on several slinky garments with an eye on all the Christmas parties, but bought none.  She went home with an icecream scoop from the kitchen dept, and I bought a veg steamer as a present, plus a baby's doorway bouncer, a present for little Amber on request by her now very tired parents:  she is still giving them broken nights.

Left my OH filling in some ceiling cracks with polyfilla, whilst we went shopping, and is going to rub them down and repaint tomorrow.  Must get off to bed  now as we both keep falling asleep on the sofa!  We have caught up with the 'Strictly' programmes we missed whilst away, wonderful stuff.

  • What a lovely card from you, Lynette.

  • Here is an effort from me to all our American Friends:  sorry its not exactly appropriate or symbolic, but it is a photo of mine from the garden....

EDIT;   LOL!!   You can see I'm tired by all the extra "p's"!!!!!

  • Evening all:  Thanks all for Thanksgiving wishes - just be grateful you don't have two big family-centered holidays within one month in the UK!  :-)

I had a good day out at the stores; very few people were gift shopping (everyone must've been in the grocery stores buying Thansgiving eats).  Managed to get desired toy for Ms. D (saw lots of other great goodies and had a hard time restraining myself). Brunch tomorrow, so no cooking for me.  OH has bought himself a new desktop and a laptop for Christmas; not sure why he needs both.   I told him that if anyone asks what I might want, the answer is "nothing that needs dusting."

Heather: If your OH doesn't need his short-sleeved shirts until spring, why not bundle them all in a bag and stuff them in a dark cupboard?  Seriously, try watching telly or DVDs while ironing (my favorite distraction).  Let us know how the cataract surgery goes.

Margo: Fingers crossed for sunshine for OH's b/day and your New Forest outing.

AQ: Hmmm. Remind me not to buy any refurbished churches in the Houghton area.

Lynette: Good the parcel problem got sorted.

Lindybird: How's your friend doing? Is she much better I hope?  Oh my, I didn't even notice the extra "P" (and me a former editor too!)

Thanks everyone for your news; have a good Thursday!

  • Good Morning, All. Very grey & misty outside this morning. Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends. We have so much fuss over Christmas, here, that I can't imagine coping with another major event so close to it! Thanks for enquiring about my Friend, Annette: she is coping but of course is still not fully recovered from being so poorly. She can't walk far without being tired and has endless clinic appointments. We both think that the NHS have been truly wonderful with all her care.
  • Good Morning Everyone. Another damp grey morning here.

Being someone who enjoys and follows cricket, I am so sorry that the Australian cricketer, Phil Hughes, (25) has died after being struck on the head by a cricket ball, even though he was wearing a helmet.

Annette, Do enjoy brunch with your family. Pleased that you managed to buy Ms D's present.

Back later. Hope you all enjoy today.

  • I have to find & wrap the presents put aside for little Tomasz's 4th birthday next Monday. We are all assembling for a party for him this Sunday and I'm extra thrilled that our Eldest & partner are going to be able to be there, so we will be able to introduce the two new babies to each other, and hopefully, take photos of them!! I have also been asked to provide some of the eats, so will be baking on Saturday.
