Hallo all.
Evening all: Very busy morning moving an irrigation line (after digging hole in wretched clay for new plant). Forced to take a nap after lunch.
OG: What a pain about those websites; wonder what the problem is/was. We do indeed have fish fingers here, but how come they're the only way you'll eat white sea-fish? Oh dear, had to Google samphire, but some very interesting info on Wikipedia ("marsh sampire ashes were used to make soap and glass" in the 14th century in England.) The things you learn! :-)
Diane: Local evening news had a brief video of a deep-water fish known, appropriately, as the Black Seadevil, up the coast in the waters off Monterey. Wouldn't want to meet it on a dark night (or sunny day for that matter) www.ksbw.com/.../29871852 (Didn't see any fingers.)
Brenda: Great that your OH is getting his wheels back - is he impatient to drive again?
Heather: Welcome home! Fill us in when you get a chance.
Lynette: Have a lovely time with Harry P. :-)
Very creaky this evening; think I'll take myself off to be early with some hot milk and a couple of ibuprofen. Have a good Sunday everyone.
ANNETTE: I revere all of Earth's wildlife, but that Black Seadevil fish is one scary looking critter. I confess that I laughed right out loud when I read about the "relationship" between the males and females. I so want to make jokes...none of them appropriate here. LOL LOL Hope you feel better tomorrow.
OG: What you call "fish fingers", we would call "fish sticks" here in the Midwest. Oddly enough, we do have "chicken fingers" here, though.
BRENDA: Best wishes to your OH. Welcome home to HEATHER. Hello to MARGO and LYNETTE.
By the way, I startled an adult doe (female white-tailed deer) yesterday, who was grazing in my yard between the garage and the creek. She ran from me, but didn't seem very panicked. She had on her winter grey-brown fur, and it was quite thick this year. After the recent snow, I saw lots of deer tracks in my yard, going from the woods to the creek.
WA trip finale. My flickr pics HERE. Next day, our last, we drove through a Tuart forest, too wet underfoot for wandering.
Drove around Bunbury in the rain, catching glimpses of the 2 cathedrals (one only built 2011, previous one destroyed by tornado). A visit to the Dolphin Centre was cut short after we viewed all the displays & video & as there was nowhere sit for coffee except a chilly verandah. No dolphins in the stormy bay.
Lunch stop in Pinjarra where I captured 3 churches & a newly restored Masonic hall in the rain and a yummy forest fruits muffin at the cafe. Now all that remained was the drive back to Perth, to the airport and the flight home, arriving 9 pm & OH still awake to collect me. (We live 5 mins from airport.) That’s it, folks, holiday is over. PS I’ve enjoyed reliving the scenery & events while sharing with you.
Misses J & L christened today. They behaved very well.
DIANE: OMG! I missed the bit about the Seadevil's mating procedures - very, very - um - peculiar. I could make some comparisons! :-))
I was wondering if you spotting any critters around your house - what about Mr. Fox and your Hawk?
The site is very slow tonight.
Congratulations, AQ. The babies are beautiful!!! I've enjoyed the photos and description of your wonderful holiday!
Annette: I've seen R.T. Hawk twice lately. I think he's roosting in my backyard over the deck this year. I've also seen large owl pellets on the deck. I haven't seen or heard the foxes. The deer are coming to my patch to evade hunters.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Love the christening photo of the twins, Aquilareen!
Good morning – lovely (if cool) day here – sorry to hear of further rain down south. OH broke the toilet flush handle yesterday, in the “Boys’ bathroom”, so has gone to Dumfries for a new one – was able to reserve online to collect from store, so at least he knows he will get it! Needs to get a few spare light bulbs restocked for winter, so will be worth the journey.
Lynette – pleased you had a lovely meal together for Daughter’s birthday – enjoy the trip today!
Annette – thank you for starting our new week. Unusual for you to admit to hard work and needing a nap – do take care! After I wrote that about fish, I remembered liking Halibut in a restaurant, but not sure I could ever prepare and cook fresh fish; fish fingers just don’t look like fish, so I don’t mind seeing them before eating! Feeling creaky? I hope you aren’t going down with a nasty virus.
Diane – I agree that Sea Devil fish and its mating practices are so weird! I don’t think we have chicken fingers in the UK, but there are things called chicken nuggets. Glad RT is around – and the (Gt Horned?) Owl.
AQ – thanks for final pics and account of the WA holiday – pleased you enjoyed recounting the experiences. Luxury apartments in grain silos amused me! Lovely photos of both the twins, looking so good.
Clare – good morning
and good morning to everyone else!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
