WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey topics) SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2014

Happy New Week all.

  • Lindy that is so cute. No hosepipe ban but thinking of building an ark.

  • Hello everyone -  Dull, dark day today but it is not raining at the moment.    I have spent the last two or three days tidying up the garden at last, fuchsias and geraniums all gone now.  All looking a bit bleak and wintery  except for a winter flowering Jasmine which is in full flower unusually early.

Lindybird - love the cute picture of the puppy.    I hope you have managed to sort out all your and OH,s shirts ,shorts, sandals, clocks, tea-things etc., at last and that you will have a lovely holiday.

    Have a nice day all

  • Hi Everybody, A very dull and grey day here with rain forecast for later. I have decided to join a friend on a local National Trust coach trip tomorrow, to the  Blue Water Centre, Kent, for Christmas shopping. Saves me having to drive and I can enjoy lunch with wine. I will also be having lunch at a local golf club, on Tuesday, with the ladies of our bowls club.

Annette, Thanks for starting the week again. A.McS would not speak near here, it is far too rural, but I haven't noticed anything advertising him giving any talks in town or city that I would be able to attend. I have seen him on TV but that is not the same as hearing them, live. I haven't heard any new news about Philae today, yet.

OG, Sounds as if you survived your busy week, very well and enjoyed yourself. If you haven't already done so, you must order the new bedroom curtains. So glad you are pleased with your new curtains.

Diane. Fingers, and everything else are crossed for Philae.

AQ, I still have a giant teddy bear, which was bought for my daughter by her school friends, when she was eighteen, It took up a full seat in the car. She doesn't want to part with it, but doesn't have the room for it. I am hoping when she moves house, she can take it, along with Paddington Bear etc.

Rita, My geraniums in pots, are still flowering, but I will have to remove them when the rain stops. They are still so colourful though.

Linda, I hope you have packed your red shoes Have a brilliant holiday :-))
I want that pup, but OH says I can't have it LOL

  • Brenda - I still have a big teddy bear and a big panda of mine that I have had since I was about six years old  (Edward and James) ,and I would'nt part with them for anything!   I must sound a bit childish!

  • Brenda etc I have Threadbare... Not telling you how old he is :-))

    Gollies eyes fell in ;-((

  • Bye everyone: sitting with a small sherry now that everything is in the cases. No red shoes! ;-( I need some lace-ups for walking, so it was those or the red ones, which are slip ons ;·( I shall travel in sandals & also have some slip on Birkenstocks which are comfy. The older you get, the more comfort matters LOL!!!
  • - - - Somewhere in the attic I have a toy carrycot with two shabby dolls in it - their heads held by rubber bands and their strangely jointed limbs all akimbo. A few years ago I tried to sell them as they are so old they must be historical!! In my bed is a rather squashed and sad teddy bear who belonged to my sons: he belonged to our Eldest, who nobly donated him to his baby brother. I suspect he didn't care for the teddy particularly!! After our Youngest left for university, I took Frank into my bed so he wouldn't be lonely...... aaaah!!
  • Enjoy your trip Christmas shopping Brenda. I have lists to tackle when I return - aaaagh! Take Care, Everyone.
  • Evening all: Brilliant drive to the LA area first thing; was in and out of Ikea within 30 minutes and on my way home, but stopped en route to putter and poke and now on my first glass of wine.

LizLFW: Ah so. Tombolo - what an interesting word - and what a lovely place in this instance.  Thank you.

AQ: Good grief:  Dau2 very brave to go to multiple births Xmas picnic; I should've thought she was already familiar with the topic. Seriously, hope she enjoyed it and maybe got to see how others are (or are not) doing.  Costco has really huge stuffed dogs this year - we'd have to move out of our house if we brought one home.

Rita:  We had a battered old Steiff teddy bear when I was growing. Everyone now and then they show up on Antiques Roadshow and and my sister and I  wonder what happened to it.

Wendy: Gollies are probably politically incorrect these days.  Do you remember Enid Blyton?  :-)  Who was it? Big Ears, Andy Pandy and friends??

Brenda: Too bad about AMcS - where do you live?  Talking of giant teddy bears, I had my granddaughter's wedding dress (ha! I typed "stress") in my closet - unworn - for almost two years. They ended up doing a civil marriage but don't get me started!  Now happily divorced, thank heaven. May I suggest giant teddy bears must less trouble. :-)

Lindybird: I'm sure you're gone, but good to know you have some comfy shoes; hope the weather is fabulous for you.

OK, off to sort out dinner. Have a good Monday everyone.

  • Goodness! It has been quiet on here today, non-existent!  Hope all are alright.   I know Brenda was going out today, and I hope that you enjoyed your trip. Dull weather again today,I have spent most of the time dealing with correspondence, nothing exciting, just business stuff.  Also making Christmas lists, I have'nt started on the shopping yet.  I did receive my tickets for the Pantomime in Inverness this morning though, which we always enjoy going to, we being(Daughter,Son-in-Law and Grandson + me), they are coming up from Cumbria.

Hope to hear from somebody soon
