WELCOME, Friends, to our Gabfest Chatroom for our first Special Event for winter, 2014. We have added a large flat-screen television above our fireplace. This is mostly for viewing of osprey, but it will come in handy tonight for our music videos. It may be cold outside, but thanks to a roaring fire in the fireplace it is warm and cosy in here.
Behind the usual furnishings of couch and chairs, comfortable padded folding chairs have been added, so there is plenty of room for any observers from other threads or around the world. At the back of the room a table has been set up for snacks. At present it holds a platter of miniature Maryland Crab Patties with Dill Sauce for dipping, another platter of Blueberry Crisps Pastries and a bowl of steaming spiced cider. Also a combination of watermelon, cantelope and honeydew balls in a hollowed out watermelon shell. There is plenty for everyone, but if you want more variety, feel free to add your favorite drink or snack as you enter.
So come on in, comment so we know you are here. If you are just watching, welcome and we do hope you too will sign in so we know you are with us. Just be sure to let us know you are only watching and do not want a turn. Now during our gathering time, we can fill our plates while we establish our Presentation Order List. Music will start at 7:00 pm (UK time of course)

Sorry, CC, June was ahead of you.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Bente, it's your turn.
Is this my turn again already?
This will be the next: Do you remember from february the German singer-songwriter Reinhard Mey with his beautiful love-song? This time I have something funny "Die Ballade vom Pfeifer". Here is my translation of the text. If you like, you can read it while I try posting the music.
The ballad of "The Whistler"I rode out of San Alfredo in the last daylight, or maybe out of El Paso, I don't know exactly. For 40 days and 40 nights I've been on the run.In every town I found my picture with the word "WANTED" on it.They called me "The Silent Man", and they whispered behind me that my gun spoke for me when I had something to say.The called me "The Whistler", and my motto was "First whistle, and then shoot".I don't know why I whistled, I don't even know my name: In the west it is never good to know too much.I only know that everywhere where my song was heard boards got scarce, because every joiner knew that there would be work for him. When I came into Bloody Corner, I saw immediately that the sum under my name had two digits more.A bounty hunter said:"Whistler, I've been waiting for you". I span around, whistled a note and my gun spoke for me.When later on in the saloon my gun spoke again, the piano player played the melodie. The elbows on the counter, looking at the door, a stranger stood beside me.He was cleanly shaved and very fat. "He introduced himself:"They call me "The Scholar", spat into the spittoonand said into my ear: "When you need 10.000 Dollars, I've got a plan. Safe as dead and easy as children's play."I accepted gratefully. Now I'm sitting in jail, eaten by doubts. Maybe the "Scholar"'s plan had not been so good after all...He said:"You'll get 10.000 Dollars if you dare go to the sheriff's office, introduce yourself an say:Good day, I am the "Whistler", as you see I've come myself to get the reward that is placed upon my head"I'm sitting on the back of my horse, under the hanging tree. A rope is around my neck, the executioner holds the reins.Soon he'll let my horse go and all will be over. The undertaker is digging my grave, singing my own song. The executioner does his duty, my horse is moving and down on the ground the director is shouting:"God damned mess! Now the branch has broken down for the third time, the film is broken, too. Guys, we'll finishwork for today, we'll do the hanging tomorrow".
Oh gosh! I ran ahead of myself! Sorry everyone! :-(

I'm glad you gave us a translation, Bente, my German falls well short. He has a good voice.
This is definitely German humor! EEK!
Great stuff, Bente. I love a song with a good story to it. It has a stereotypical 'Western' sound to it.
