Good morning, all! Welcome to the new day and the new week. I hope it goes positively for you all.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I'm feeling a wee bit better today. Weather warmer too, so I had my lunch in sun on back lawn. I am familiar with red bottlebrush - here are 2 pics I took of a pink bottlebrush in Albany WA. I hope they cheer up Margo & anyone else down.
and close-up
Thank you AQ! Just the ticket on a dreary morning-
LYNETTE How awful, I hope that you manage to get hold of the builder very soon. It must be a bad leak to be making everything sopping so quickly.
Good morning all and yet another very wet night and more showers this morning. Very mild at present so no need for heating. Last day of chemo today and unfortunately for the first time it made me sick 2 days on the trot. Had not taken the anti-sick medication as up to now I had not actually been sick. Have now been taking them and Bfeeling much better. Still hoping to get to the ballet tomorrow even though I feel very tired.
Lindybird lovely photos from Wales, not many old fashioned seaside places left now. We have a couple in Dorset, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth which are totally unspoilt. Sorry to read about your friend still being rather fragile and I hope your OH is feeling better today. Sounded a rather stressful day for you.
Billie is not amused with the wet weather, she has got caught several times in heavy downpours and I have never seen her move so fast.
AQ pleased to read you are feeling a bit better. Enjoyable read about your trip and good photos. Very unusual plant but a lovely colour.
rita hope you will start to feel a lot better soon. Coughing all the time does make you exhausted so no wonder you are so tired.
OG hope your screaming hip has eased a little.
Heather hope you have enjoyed your time with the family and have managed to throw enough food at them to keep them going.
Brenda pleased to see you did well at bowls.
Lynette hope the leak will be fixed soon, so annoying. Know how you feel having had a couple of leaks this year.
No post from george lately, hope he is OK.
Off now to make some phone calls, have a good weekend all and take care.
Margo x
Good Morning ALL. Shafts of sunlight through the grey clouds and everywhere is wet from the overnight rain but it is warmer this morning.
Lynette, I really do hope your plumber can be contacted this morning.
Thanks for the cheerful pink bottlebrush photographs, AQ. Glad to hear that you are recovering. Lunch in the garden is becoming a memory here.
Linda, I hope you manage to have a better day, today.
Promises, promises! Just had no time yesterday. All well - op this morning was fine - a cyst. Back to the bank this afternoon then curtain poles fitted this evening - hoping to fit in making and eating dinner somewhere down the line!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
AQ I am glad that you a feeling a bit better now. thank you for the lovely pictures of the Bottlebrush Plant, it is very attractive. It has not rained here today so far but it looks as though it will any moment now, it is due to turn windy as well.
Curtain pole man is here; dinner ready for oven but am waiting for him to finish front window and then I shall know how long the side window might take! I decided to come in the study in case he needs to use any sweary words, but I don’t think he will as he has his very pleasant teenage son with him; they are both very polite.
I think my last real update was on Tuesday. Wednesday began with haircuts for us both, then an afternoon visit to the bank; nothing demanding in the evening, so I had a long chat with Daughter#2 on the phone; the temporary roof on her house had failed, and she found the new flood, so had to report it to all involved! She is slowly making the temporary house into a home, and had a visit from her younger Son last week, which was good for them both.
Yesterday I had to make an unscheduled visit to the optician for replacement nose-pads on my glasses: always good to see him. J spent the day Autumn-cleaning his room, and I had a busy afternoon while OH was on duty at the museum. We went to our Wildlife meeting in the evening, which went on longer than usual, so I went to bed exhausted , but then slept very well!
I had the wee op on my back this morning, then did very little while OH went shopping. We both had a lot of correspondence and phone calls to deal with in the afternoon, and a return to the bank as we have decided to move our home insurance to them (better cover for less cost!). We called in the Lounge for coffee in town (first time in ages). J is out the full day: collected his repaired car this morning and decided to stay in Dumfries for brunch and an afternoon snack as he has band practice at church this evening.
Was just about to tell you what dinner is, and realised I left the Bacon out of the Liver and Bacon! The recipe doesn’t have bacon, but OH wanted me to add it in, so I shall have to go fry it and push it in among the other ingredients, and pretend it was there all the time!
Replies will follow!
Nice to see a post from Chrisy earlier in the week. Having missed flu jab when I had flu (!) nurse jabbed me one in the right arm while Doc was stitching behind my left shoulder today (at his suggestion!).
Brenda – after our late dinner, OH is now hanging the curtains on the new poles – looking good, will be pleased when we get the new curtains! I hope your water was the right colour when it was restored; a nuisance that you will have to have it turned off again for a permanent repair, but you should be given notice when that happens. I hope your tiredness Wednesday was not an indication of a virus – do take care, you have had a stressful year.
AQ – sorry you are hit by cold and hay fever at the same time, and that it spoilt your Sunday out somewhat. I still haven’t had time to view your recent photos from WA trip, but shall enjoy them when I do – just mustn’t lose the link! I like that different Bottlebrush – a lovely intense shade of Pink.
Heather – I hope the week of family visits continued well; I am sure you will have managed Amy’s needs with your usual efficiency! To answer your question about Annette, I understood she will be returning home this coming Sunday, after seeing her Sister off and then taking the train home via Chicago and a visit to a friend. But of course, she may need a few days recovery before we actually “see” her!
Liz – I think you may get your “icing” on the Ben this weekend; here, it has been very mild, and the leaves are slow to turn and drop. We are seeing sunshine and showers now, but very lucky that most of the rain is overnight.
Rita – sorry your cough and tiredness are still lingering; don’t try to do too much, it just isn’t worth pushing yourself, that will just prolong it.
Linda – sorry you had such a disappointing and stressful day Thursday. I hope your Friend will get stronger again, and your OH too. Sorry the day ended with bad news. Well done with the Spag Bol for the freezer.
Lynette – sorry to read about your kitchen flood – I hope it reaches a satisfactory outcome soon. Well done getting back into the swimming.
Margo – sorry you were sick from the chemo, but maybe that meant the nausea didn’t last so long; I do hope you will get to the ballet tomorrow. Thanks for asking about the hip – it has eased a lot, but I think the gardening affected me more than usual because I had not been moving about enough while I was unwell.
I shall miss the Farmers’ Market tomorrow, but send OH to collect things I have ordered. I don’t want to go out as I am not allowed to shower until Sunday because of stitches, so I shall not be fit to be seen! I have plenty to do at home, after being out so much this week.
