Good morning, all! Welcome to the new day and the new week. I hope it goes positively for you all.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
LINDY my OH would agree with you, he loves turkey but I don't. At Christmas I always cook turkey for him and any others that are turkey fans but there is always a beef roast for the dissenters!! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your meal and that it was beautifully cooked xx
Linda/ Heather, Glad you both enjoyed your chosen roast dinners. It will always remain one of my favourite meals. We usually always need to have turkey and an alternative meat at Christmas. Even my mother always cooked two alternatives, as she didn't like any poultry or pork, but would cook them for us though. She loved ham or lamb.
We have been lazy today. The rain started here, around 3.30pm and the weather warning continues until 11pm tomorrow.
Didn't get back to catch up - actually spent an hour working in the garden! Will try tomorrow.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good morning ALL! Another new (sunny) day. About to have breakfast - a bit later than recent days. Back later - really!
Good Morning, Still raining, since yesterday afternoon.
OG, We slept in this morning, so our breakfast was much later than usual.
Best wishes to Margo today, as her treatment recommences.
I hope Rita and AQ are beginning to feel a little better.
I think Annette is due home.
I am playing indoor bowls this afternoon. Maybe I should take up water polo, LOL.
Good morning all
I second the best wishes for MARGO xx
We (I) had to jump out of bed and into the shower very quickly this morning as the 'roof man' arrived. OH was already downstairs but due to go indoor bowling. The first we knew of it was ladder noises etc! We had no idea that he was coming today. We don't, apparently, need the whole dormer re-fibre glassed just new lead flashing where that dormer roof joins the house. He found the cause of the leak very quickly.
Dry so far, here.
Good morning all and Autumn has definitely arrived. Rain on and off since yesterday evening. Cannot believe that just a couple of weeks ago Billie and I spent a lot of hours enjoying the sun and warmth. Had a bit of a disturbed night as next door neighbours not for the first time had a a violent argument, all conducted outside at 1.45. They seem to have rather a volatile relationship and argue a lot, mostly outside. Language was just appalling and in the end OH opened a window and asked them to "shut up" which of course was met with a torrent of abuse. We have very little to do with them as there have been various problems since they moved in a cuople of year ago.
Chemo starts again today thankfully, I would have worried if had been delayed further. Had a nice glass of red wine last evening as recommended by the cancer clinic In between treatments.
AQ hope you are feeling better and managed your trip.
rita hope you are feeling a little better and looking after yourself.
Lynette thanks for posting hioliday pics. The church at Morwenstow is a place we know very well. There is a lovely little tea room which has a self catering property attached and we had a very peaceful holiday there but visited the church many times. Reverend Hawker was an eccentric but a man of compassion that wanted to ensure drowned sailors had a Chrisian burial which is evidenced as you saw in the graveyard. There is a hut on the cliff top called Hawkers Hut where he watched for stricken ships and also wrote his sermons. it is the smallest National Trust propery. He is also credited with the invention of "Harverst Festival". The vicarage is further down the same valley but has been taken over for use of holiday lets for some years. All in all it is a very interesting place.
Lindybird pleased to read that you seem to be feeling better and enjoyed your turkey lunch. My OH also loves turkey, I do like it but prefer it cold with pickles etc.
Brenda OH had hoped to mow the lawns this weekend but all he could do was tidying up and putting some grass seed on the bare bits. Hope you enjoy your bowls this afternoon.
Heather enjoy the calm before the storm although I know you enjoy having the grandchildren, I image it will do your daughter good to have a few days away with a friend. Hope you enjoyed the lamb.
OG hope you are continuing to feel better.
Annette hope you have enjoyed your time away and visit of your sister.
have a good day all and take care.
Good Morning, All. Was delayed this morning by two long phonecalls, but its nice to catch up with friends.
Margo: Great to hear you feeling chirpy, hope that all goes well with the chemo: we will all be thinking of you. What a nuisance having noisy neighbours: I suppose if they go on doing that at ungodly hours, the only alternative is to call the local police and report "a disturbance in the street" - I did that once, when some noisy teenagers were being raucous! And of course, they had no idea who had called the police as there were several streets nearby, all full of houses...... I remember seeing "The Hawkers Hut" on some TV programme, could have been Countryfile. Very interesting.
Brenda: Hope the "Water Polo" goes well today!! LOL!!
OG: Hope everyone there is feeling much better today. You seem to have been sensible and not done too much lately, so hope its paid off and you are (nearly) back to normal.
Heather: That is a rude awakening, hearing noises on the roof LOL!! Hope it gets sorted: doesn't sound quite as expensive as you feared, anyway. I hope you had the curtains closed - we have had to be careful, with having the builders in next door, they can see into our bedroom if they are on ladders!! I keep the blinds closed if they are working right next to us.
