Happy new week
Good Morning, Rain all night with thunder and lightning at times. At this moment, it has stopped but still so dark and threatening.
Fence men have turned up and are already working. They are dressed as if it is mid winter. 8c here.
Thanks to AQ, but I still have to look at your photographs.
Off to make the men some coffee and toast.
AQ, I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your photographs. It took me longer because I googled some of the churches, especially the cathedral. Loved the kangaroo sculptures. Felt sorry for those prisoners in those railway gaols. Thank you.
We have thunder rumbling around for the last 30 mins but no rain. The wind is very cold though.
A bit late looking in today – had a disturbed night, but only normal pain levels today; OH slept well again in his little nest on the floor! Funny weather: near frost early, then just a sudden thirty minutes of fog (disappeared as suddenly as it came), a lovely blue sky morning, not bad in the afternoon until a very light drizzle a few minutes ago. Typical Scottish weather: four seasons in one day.
AQ – enjoying the account of your trip – will look through photos after writing this, thanks. It’s good to have first-hand reports of far-away places we have heard of.
Clare – I do hope Helen will get good advice for her exam nerves; she sound a very conscientious pupil, so deserves any help available.
Brenda – I think I prefer our weather to your thunder and lightning! I was surprised that fencing men are working in poor conditions – I hope they are not dirtying you floors when they have coffee and toast – sounds like you are spoiling them!
Linda – no word yet on the bed repair, but OH is supposed to be getting his chair back this Thursday, after a big row on the phone (great restraint – no sweary-words); we last saw it in July!
The three of us are out for dinner tonight, so I have taken quite a gentle day. We have frozen the last Runner Beans (we shall be eating beans at least once a week, and courgettes twice a week until next veg season). Tomato plants will be dismantled later this week and last few ripened on the greenhouse bench.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
AQ - enjoyed the photos. Some lovely architecture; interesting to compare it with the contemporary Victorian over-blown ornamentation in the UK! Liked the flowers too, and the Roos.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
It has been raining all day here and very dark as well. thank goodness I have finished sanding and staining all my windows now and also my garden seat, just the tortoise shed to do now, if the weather picks up. It is awful weather for tortoises, they really need the sun, especially as it is nearly time to hibernate for the winter. They have not been outside for a few days now, but they have a nice purpose built shed with picture windows, heating and basking lamps! so it is not all that bad.
Went to the Doctor's this afternoon to have a flu' jab and also a shingles injection, which is something new they are offering this year. I said that I had already had shingles a few years ago but apparently you still need the injection. There are very long waiting lists for hospital appointments up here, I have to wait 5 months for a routine Hearing Test, and I have been waiting since March to see the skin specialist about a mole on my leg, apparently he fell off his bicycle and hurt himself so that has created a backlog!
Must go now and cook, am going to have some wine tonight to give a little cheer to the evening!
Have a good evening all.
Hello all, going to catch up with your posts this evening.
