This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2012-Sep 2014
The scope - following the travels of tracked ospreys "not from Loch Garten", either originating in the UK or overseas.
Can I ask for some help in starting off the thread. If you are the first person to post about a bird in the restarted thread, can you please give the name of the project which is tracking it, and supply a link to the project website.
Many thanks - Sue
That is indeed a very positive Blog from Roy.
Birdies LG DU update.
Thanks Starling - My hope is that Morven has a successful nest with her new mate from last year after the failure last season.
He is the male who ousted her mate Yellow HA resulting in injury and probable demise.
She just did not adjust after the fighting and move of nests.
Actually I have just realised that the demise of Yellow HA was end of four very influential ospreys viz 05 (00), 08 (01), SSK and yellow HA all mothered in consecutive years by "The Norwegian"
This is a juvenile female osprey; one of a brood of three (two females and one male) and she is the youngest. Her female parent is a Norwegian osprey which was ringed as a chick 40 kilometres south of Oslo on 27th June 1992; she was found breeding at a nest in Morayshire in 1996 to 1999 and then moved to a nest in Nairnshire in 2000 and ousted the female S07. She bred successfully with the old male, which is now 15 years old and was reared at a nest just 3 kilometres distance. These birds are also the parents of chicks translocated to Rutland water in 2000 (T05) and 2001 (U08); while the male was the parent of R06 in 1999.
Tiger Signature
Unfortunately we do not know what actually happened to Yellow HA only speculate.
This was one of the new mobile transmitters that is supposed to give us great information but he flew off after battle upstream on the River Findhorn. He was low on the river surrounded by low cliffs and would not get a mobile signal.
Last report was a fisherman seeing him acting odddly on the low cliffs beside the river and we never got a signal after that nor was he retrieved.
Many thanks Jaydee for the updates on UV. I wonder if hes making the most of the time the adults are away breeding? Keep safe little man! Would very much love to see him return when the time is right!
Also 7H!
Thankyou Starling for the link to Roys blog and brilliant news that all satelite birds have returned!
Keith I was wondering what happened to YellowHA. Couldnt remember who it was who was badly injured and possibly perished. Very sad outcome and hope Morven has a sucessful nest this year.
You were quite right Keith.

Fighting between male ospreys can be pretty furious and there have been cases of deaths. This episode shows the danger of being delayed by bad weather during the migration and arriving long after their mate.
