Hope everyone has a good week.
Returned late yesterday. Had a great time. Now trying to get my head around mundane things like getting a meal & washing up. Photos of wildflowers & birds promised.
The site has been acting up tonight - at least for me. Seems like I jinx myself when I don't copy/paste my posts, which is rare. Oh well.
AQ: Welcome back! Will be looking forward to your photos.
DIBNLIB: Liked your photos of Holyrood and the tram.
OG: Do take care of yourself this week; don't do too much running around after the guys!
Off to bed now and meeting daughter tomorrow to do a bit more work on her garden with her.
Good Morning ALL.
Thanks Annette for starting the week. The end of September already. The months are flying by.
Dibnlib, I rather like the Edinburgh trams. I haven't seen them before. Lovely photograph of Holyrood, which made me sit and remember when we were last there. Thank you. I hope you can take it easy tomorrow, when you return to work.
OG, I was pleased to see your post and see that you are recovering. You will have to catch up on the lost sleep and let your whole system recover. I know EE and J will be keeping an 'eye' on you. Take care.
AQ, Good to see you back. After you have 'caught up' with your family and done all the laundry, cooked meals etc. we would love to hear about your holiday :-))
Margo is still feeling bad. ( streaming cold and very sore throat) This will delay her chemo, which was due this week. Exactly what she didn't want to happen.
Good afternoon, all. I must apologise to all of you as I promised some more photos of our break in Germany and it has taken me a while to actually get around to posting them! These were taken on the day we visited Koblenz. We took the Seilbahn (cable car) up to the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein (pronounce that when you've had a few!) - it was on the far bank of the river Rhine and in a very picturesque location. We looked around some of it but there was so much to see we didn't look round all of it.
Got to have a cannon:
The smaller versions!!
The accommodation wasn't exactly luxurious:
A few of the uniforms from the 1800's:
There was some lovely pottery about:
I wasn't quite sure what this was - a water bottle? Either way it was very nice:
This is the rat catcher's gear - and yes, they apparently did wear the mask:
There were a few anti-burglar items about:
I had to snap this piano - it's so beautiful:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
We did have a quick look at the rest of Koblenz as well! This is the Deutsches Eck (the German Corner) - it's the point where the Mosel joins the Rhine. Isn't the view great?
These barges are a common sight in this part of the world:
This is the Church of our Beloved Lady - I think it's the oldest church in Koblenz:
Our lovely teenager then reminded us we'd promised her a good look at the shops. We headed in to a shopping centre called the Forum and found some very clever and colourful decorations:
You can't have Obelix without Asterix:
The Lone Ranger and Tonto:
And finally, a pirate ship:
Hope you all enjoy these - especially you, Margo. Hope that cold of yours doesn't last for too long.
Looking forward to Aquilareen's piccies now!
I should mention that it has been a beautiful day here - I've been wandering around in T-shirt and shorts even though it's nearly October. We also had a beautiful heron fly over the house this morning for the first time in ages.
Thanks Clare. The church of Our Lady has a very interesting history. I googled it. Like the figures made of balloons, especially Asterix and Obelix. Love the piano, but the pianist doesn't appear to have much of an audience. It has been a beautiful day here also.
Linda, I have sent a further message. I enjoyed Downton, but I feel that it is a new writer, but I forgot to look for the name, at the end.
