WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2014

Checked the date twice this time round.

Here's to a pleasant new week all.

  • evening all:

Margo: Great to see you, but sorry your OH got such a rotten cough - they're miserable for everyone.

Limpy: Lovely shots. Thank you. I can't get over their little eyes; they always looks so bright and busy and alert.

Brenda: We're going to lunch with long-lost friends - a couple of places come to mind, both serve a wide enough variety it shouldn't be a problem.  Yes, am meeting my sister in New York the week after next. We're going to have a few days alone (lots of natter time) in the city, then are going up to my friend's parents' house (they're deceased), which is on a lake an hour north of NYC . It's very rural there so should be nice and autumnal; then we'll be back in the city for the day before I put her on the overnight flight back to London. I'll stay on for a few more days, them am taking the train home through Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City and Sacramento, where I'll stop the night to have dinner with a friend before catching the morning train back to Santa Barbara.  That particular route goes through the Rockies and the Sierras, which should be beautiful. I've done the trip once before, but back in the 80s I think.

Heather: What a relief that your OH was able to hang on to his license. How long is your Canadian friend staying?  What part of Canada is he from?

Lindybird: That must've been a nasty bug to have you still feeling bad.  A former colleague of mine got food poisoning once and was thoroughly fed up with how long it took to get back to feeling normal; longer than a regular bug or the flu.  Oh more lovely pix! Thanks. Hope the weather is kind to you for your Wales trip.

OG: Take care of yourself along with the boys.

Clare: Tesco does seem to be getting a lot of bad publicity lately;  I was listening to the BBC online and they interviewed a food supplier who'd had to wait ages to get paid and from what I can remember, still didn't get the total amount owed.

Have had a busy day with more paperwork that needs to get sorted; such fun.  Am going to hold a (figurative) gun to OH's head tomorrow morning and make him go over the not-so-small print with me. I daren't let him do it solo or he'll start making all kinds of completely unnecessary changes (been there, done that; got the headache!). :-))

Sorry if I've missed anyone, but hope all have a good Wednesday!

Clare Radio 4 today "daddy what does 2 plus 2 make" ? Dad phoned his accountant .. His answer what number do you waby!!

LOL, Wendy!  On the whole, though, it's quite frustrating having news like this hit the headlines.......it paints such a poor picture of the whole accounting profession.  Many people will assume most accountants 'cook the books' where in fact it's a small minority.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning, All. Bright sunshine here, but we did have some welcome rain in the night. Clare, don't know what we'd do without our wonderful firm of accountants, as having been self employed for a number of years, with more than one business, our money matters got very complicated. Must go!!! Have a good day, All.
  • Clare.... It was me being light hearted but the Tescos thing is huge but as you say perpetrated by a few. I do have an idea of how you feel as my career was banking and my Son in Sin ( together 14 years and never felt the need for marriage:-( ) is an accountant .

Dull here and Mrs Deer grazing behind my fence...

  • Your Son in Sin??????  LOL!!

  • Good Morning ALL. Everywhere very wet after overnight rain. Showers expected during the day, so I will change my plans and not wash the sheets etc this morning.

Spent some time yesterday dead heading the climbing roses and cutting back shoots off the pyracantha, which wasn't as bad as usual, because I took Annette's advice and bought a pair of the recommended  very long gauntlets. Some of the pyracantha shoots were beginning to stab me as I cut the grass.

Annette, Your sister's visit sounds a fantastic trip. I like the sound of the house on the lake and I am sure you will both enjoy some shopping. The train journey home should be a wonderful experience, even though you have done it before.
I am already looking forward to any photographs you manage to take and reports on what you see.

Linda, Sounds like a slow recovery for you, so take it easy.

OG, Not nice, when the three of you feel so bad. What a nuisance. It is many years since I was last in Ayr, I was even taken to the horse races when there !

I need to go food shopping but OH is just making a cup of coffee before we leave.
