I am creating a quick new thread about this site so as not to overload 'News from other nests' as there is so much going on at present ! I did a search & could not find any posts since it was mentioned in April!
I started watching just a week ago when I accidentally discovered there was still a fledgling Osprey, Pia, on the nest! The livecam image is so sharp & the cam operator gives great closeups & panoramic views around the Bay with all it's small shipping movements! Pia can often be seen perching on moored boats' masts!
I have managed to get some info ... parents Rachel & Steve with three chicks this year - Poole, Pan & Pia! Two have gone on migration but don't know if they have trackers; also this nest is one of Dr Rob Bierregaard's & he does some Q&A sessions on this Audubon website but have to backtrack to glean facts!

Another grim, foggy day ... Pia was on nest & suddenly took off & landed on boat mast ,,, you may just be able to make her out in the murk taking off again to return to nest
Now on nest hollering very loudly ... asking for fish maybe, haven't seen a parent bring fish yet but she had a 'biggie' one yesterday
More later, hopefully!
Wendy great captures. I have been watching this nest for a while now. At times you feel as though you are on the nest with them them. Picture quality is first class.
Thank you Wendy, I'm not sure I've seen this nest, but your captures are great! I'll give it a look.

Thanks MB & S, feel free to add some pics! We won't have her for long ... she reminds me of Deri with her love of the nest & hollering loudly for fish!!
Thanks WENDY I don't reember the mention of this nest before Can you say exactly where it is? Fantastic captures
Just as I lookedin at the live stream Pia was receiving a fish from one of the adults It is large, whole and, oh dear, alive.....and the camera is panned in really closely
She is certainly doing a Deri and talking to her meal

Hi Patily, An Island in this bay .....
Here is an extract from Wiki ..... "Tomales Bay is a long narrow inlet of the Pacific Ocean in Marin County in northern California in the United States. It is approximately 15 miles (25 km) long "
A bit more info from an FB poster who lives not too far away ....
"One of my favorites. I usually check in a few times a day. Dr Rob Bierregaard occasionally makes himself available for question and answer sessions. If you look on their videos section, you can view them. A lot of good info from his sessions. The camera people very nicely pan around the island. The views are beautiful and the sunsets are gorgeous. The nest is on an island on the coast of Maine. The National Audubon Society has a camp on the island, and the nest is located right above the camp."
