WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, 2014

Happy New Week all.

  • LINDYBIRD: We'll look forward to lots more pix of Amber May as the weeks, months go by..... I bet you've already started looking at little dresses in the stores!

AQ: Nice to hear that your puttering around the stores; hope the rain stayed away.

    Night all!

  • LINDA - can't understand why you have so much trouble posting.  Thanks for persevering and sharing the baby photo.  Her name will make it easy for buying special landmark gifts (18, 21 etc) as she grows up!

AQ - you are sounding so relaxed this week!  I hope the car service was not too costly.

Dull but dry here: OH hopes to finish mowing this morning, but we haven't yet checked for dew.  Blood tests this afternoon, and out at General Interest group AGM tonight - with competitions and supper.  I have been looking through photos to enter some wildlife subjects for competition.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good morning all and a lovely sunny morning here and quite warm. I was so pleased to be able to post some upbeat news for a change. If things remain stable it will improve the prognosis. Of course I know there is not a cure but as long as the chemo continues to produce positive results, it can be given for as long as possible. At least my poor battered veins will have a rest.

Had a nice lunch with my sister and had a good chat. She has found it doifficult to talk about my illness and I keep telling her I am not going anywhere just yet. I may even get to see 3 shows we have booked. A ballet, Joe Brown and the comedian Henning Wehn whom we have seen several times and we find very funny.

One little worry this morning is Billie who does not want to eat or drink or even go out which is most unusual. She was fine yesterday and in the night when she got me up to give her a drink from the tap.  Will have to see how things go, she looks OK and purrs when I stroke her.

Heather pleased you enjoyed your holiday even though weather not so good for the second week. It is very difficult to get back in the swing after a holiday. As you say for some reason you feel tired. I always felt the be benefit of a holiday 2 weeks after we came back.  Hope your new neighbour,s bad language will cease.

AQ you must be enjoying the respite now your daughter is receiving help with a nanny. Hope the depression will improve. Not long to your holiday which you must be looking forward to.

OG hopefully new loss adjuster will mean things  moving. Hope J has not passed on his cold to either of you. Good luck with blood tests and hope your photos win something.

Annette that storm sounded really scary. Force of nature never fails to amaze me. So pleased I was not in that vicinity at the time. Hope you manage to get new lights for Miss D. Reading back I notice you managed a lazy day which does not seem to happen very often for you,

Lindybird that is so annoying when a post just hangs there. Happened to me a few times. I have noticed that when I look at osprey sightings thread I only have the heading sometimes, have no idea what is causing that, I expect you are really looking forward to going pink shopping and also to see Amber May. Thanks for the pic, she does look quite big,

Have a good day all and take care.

  • Me again!

I spoke with Daughter last evening and, although there is still nothing actually happening this week, she sounds more positive.  We shall be seeing her in two weeks - either to see the house if she wants someone else in the family to see it (even her ex hasn't been to look!) or elsewhere if she wants to get away for a couple of nights, meeting up in Stirling or Perth.

MARGO - I expect your Sister found it easier to talk about your illness now that you seem to have an improved prognosis.  Sounds as if Billie might have a fur ball - worth getting her checked out, especially as she is mostly an indoor cat so unlikely to have picked up anything undesirable outside.

Putting finishing touches to lunch (a veg bake) - main meal as we shall have supper out and J will make himself an evening meal.  Then I shall leave it in the oven while I get hosed down for the vampire (shouldn't say that, she is so lovely and very efficient even with my un-co-operative veins).

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good Morning ALL. Margo and I have been chatting on the phone. OH has a mid afternoon appointment at the hospital today. I would much rather it was a morning appointment. It will be peak hour by the time we leave so will take much longer to get home.

Linda, A photograph to treasure in the coming years. I guess you have many more, too.

OG, I am sure you will be happier, when you see your daughter, face to face. Sounds as if she is having to deal with all the problems on her own. Hope you have no problems with the 'vampire' and good luck with your wildlife photographs in the competition.

  • Thanks, BRENDA.  Maybe afternoon traffic will not be too bad, as I don't think schools are back down there yet (although I know GD#2 is back, in C Durham).  I hope the appointment goes well, anyway.  "Partner" is being a wonderful help to Daughter, which may be why Ex is not proactive!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hello Everyone!   at last I am back on here!  Have been lurking for a while now, due to having lots of visitors to stay, a bad head cold then a stomach upset, and busy sanding and staining outside windows  (still lots to do),  and also lots of gardening as usual.  Have been keeping up with everyone's news though, but a bit late to reply to most of it now.   I so enjoyed having my son and family to stay, they had a lovely time, cycling in the Cairngorm forests, horse riding on Brora beach, Whale watching on a boat out of Gairloch, and a couple of days camping on a remote west coast site amongst other things!  We also had some nice meals out , the girls love going out for High Tea!  I missed them a lot went they went.      I have been looking after my Daughters dog while they were on holiday in Cornwall, she is very old and arthritic now and needs a lot of attention and medication  so they bring her up to me as she is always happy here and they have nobody else to leave her with.    It does mean a lot of driving for them though as they have to bring her up from Shap, then down to Cornwall,  then back up here to fetch her again!   They stayed for a few days here before going home and we had a good time, my grandson has really shot up in height since I last saw him at Christmas, (he is nearly 11 years old now).  I really enjoyed having Jody to stay and Amber and I missed her when she went home.    Here are a couple of pictures of her, she is enormous, a Saluki cross.  I do not usually have a playmat on the floor but daughter brought it up to stop her slipping, back legs are rather wobbly now!

  • Lindybird - How wonderful to have a little grandaughter born on your birthday, congratulations to all the family!   I loved the photo of her and also her name Amber May, (you will know already that I love the name Amber).   Hope you will get to see her very soon, and post some more photos for us to see.

Margo - It was lovely to read your good news, I am so glad for you and glad that you enjoyed lunch with your sister.

Annette - What a tale about the dreadful storm! Hope you are able to get new starry lights for Miss D. I am sure they make her bedroom look very pretty.

OG - Was so sorry to hear of your daughters misfortune, what a dreadful thing to happen, frightening too, I do hope she gets it all sorted out soon.

  • Hello there, all. Been sooo busy: have visited sick Friend (she is much better), been shopping and put out 3 washing loads! Also had to call in to shop to buy a new telephone system as ours has been doing weird things. They had sold out of the one I chose, but had a similar one once I got to grips with the description in well known catalogue store (A***s!). Have opened the box now & plugged it in to charge up, as we were worried that we would have to rely on our mobiles. Should be sorted after a few hours... Now I'm off out again as there's not enough food in the house. Sorry if I'm not posting replies but no time yet - take care, All.
  • Welcome back, RITA!  Sounds as if your family had a wonderful time with you, but sorry you have been unwell since then.  What a huge detour your Daughter made to leave her Dog with you; she does look a beautiful animal.

We have now made our plans to visit Daughter very soon, and even found two vacant nights at our favourites B&B in Muir of Ord!  She has a big meeting with the new loss adjuster this Friday.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
