I'm starting a new DU whilst wondering if it is one day too many. We have no ospreys remaining at LG (though Odin has not officially left*) and already a possible loss. Having calmed down since reading that dreaded word "perished", I am putting the emphasis on "possible" and will wait with the rest of my LG friends for a final verdict.
The sky is beginning to lighten over Loch Garten.
IMAGICAT
Well! We just had a close-up of a little visitor :-)
I think it was a Great Tit.
Thank you for the smile SCYLLA, on a morning it was much needed. Richard's news hit me like a bolt when I read the headline. It was the last thing I expected to learn so early in dear Seasca's migration, but I am remaining optimistic, unless facts prove otherwise. Everyone is saying that the readings are really unusual, to stop dead, and I can't help but cling on to the altitude of 110m rather than hitting sea level.
Thank you Great Tit - it may well be removing the spider and its web, a bit late in the season I know, but thank you!
Nothing has been disturbed on the nest :( Let us all hold our virtual hands together and think positive thoughts until Thursday.
Twenty-four hours ago
Now
Well the sunshine remains the same unlike down here - almost 24 hours of rain, heavy at times!
Birdie's DU Summaries 2018 https://www.imagicat.com/
Just to show that ospreys should have no great problem with the Bay of Biscay one needs to look no further than SSK from 2002. She not only saved herself but returned to breed in Britain.See
Tiger Signature
Made me smile as well, Scylla - I don't think we've ever had that particular view of a Great Tit on the nest :-)
Tiger and Chloe's Osprey Info
Thank you SCYLLA for starting a new DU, probably the last one. I cannot believe our strong feisty girl has perished already. :-( She reminded me so much of Alba, my favourite chick of all. But let's wait till Thursday in hope.
Tiger's Osprey News
Her radar was definite askew Tiger. An incredible journey.
Terribly sad news but lets hope a blib in proceedings as Millies readings went a bit wonky too. Looking at the line and points Seasca looks like she was starting to head out into Atlantic - there is a little kick in the points line. Hopefully it is just technology.
Thank you for the reassurance TIGER. Alba is another case in point, and also Lalli who got to the west coast of Africa via Madeira and missed the north coast completely. As you say she is a young fit bird, well fed and on a mission, but it must be scary.
No update on Odin today??????
