WEEKLY CHAT (Non-Osprey) Sunday, July 27 2014

Welcome to the new week everyone.  Will catch up later today.

  • Took forever again to start this new thread!

  • Good Morning, All. Thanks to Annette for starting our new week again. The site still has problems, even down to it being difficult sometimes to get the " like" button to work!
  • Good morning, all.  Well done, Annette, starting the new thread - you must have the patience of a saint!

Lindy, I know what you mean about the 'Like' button - on at least one occasion I have found myself logged out through trying to use it.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hello All.  Thank you so much for starting our week again Annette.

OH now home from hospital. The Surgeon is happy that the new cells appear to be settling. OH has had to lie flat( without a pillow) since the operation. He has been allowed up for various times today. There are so many drops to insert, all with different timings, from hourly to 4 hour gaps. I have had to create a form to record when I give each one and when the next one is due. We are due back at the hospital on Wednesday. OH is so grateful for this treatment but he is getting very bored and his back aches, with lying flat so much.

Linda, So glad you were able to get to Tatton Park. It must be frustrating for your OH, who has always been such an active man, to find that now he has limitations. Hopefully he will be back to his old self ASAP.

Dibnlib. Really lovely photographs and your hotel sounds excellent.

AQ, I don't envy you having to pack everything, which we had to do recently, but I hope you are now enjoying your new carpets. Some of your tales. about looking after the twins, do make me laugh but I am now hoping that neither of my children become parents of twins. LOL

We are having very heavy rain and thunder at the moment.

  • BRENDA - So glad to hear that your OH is back from hospital and is progressing satisfactorily, I can understand how he is feeling bored with having to lie flat so much of the time and put up with backache as well.  How long will this be for?

DIBNLIB -  You sound as though you had a lovely holiday, I enjoyed your photographs, Benson must have enjoyed himself too!

My normal very quiet life has been shattered temporarily!   Highland Dancing with 'Jimmy Shand & his Band' in my bedroom at 7.30am!!!!

  • BRENDA   Glad to hear things are improving nicely for your OH

RITA   love the Highland dancing piccie.

LINDY   Do hope your OH doesn't tire himself out too much.

Today has improved beyond all belief and this evening is glorious.

Another pic. this is the view from a beach at Fleet. A couple had parked their campervan close by and they too had a Cocker. Benson and Oscar had a great play together.

  • Dibnlib, Thank you, (re my OH.)
Another lovely photograph. A brilliant place for Benson and Oscar, and both of you, too :-))

Rita, OH was allowed to be a little more active today, but no bending, no lifting, no sports etc until the Doc approves.
Love your photograph of your two very pretty granddaughters. I would guess you were thrilled to be entertained at 7.30am. Your quiet life will return, but I know you will miss the girls :-))

  • Good evening everyone,

Myself, OH, daughter/partner and grandson have just returned back from a weeks camping In Dorset.

We could not ask for such lovely weather, the only downside it took just over 7 1/2 hours to get back yesterday and not 4 hours due to hold ups and accidents everywhere, absolute nightmare! every time we changed route, we met up with another incident, OH had a few choice words, which is so not like him at all, so I sat quietly saying nothing.

Today has been spent washing/shopping and generally catching up, the boys (cats) are back from their holidays also, why do we feel guilty leaving them, knowing full well they will be fine.

We didn't see any Ospreys, plus no wifi either :( so I felt totally bereft I can tell you not being able to keep updated, back to normal today :))

Brenda H, hope your OH is improving.

Rita, love the photos of you lovely granddaughters, I miss my grandson now he's returned home, he absolutely loved the camping.

Dibnlib, lovely photo of the beach scene.

  • I've read back but will reply tomorrow: I spent half of today in bed after having a stomach upset, don't know if its something I ate or if its a germ. Either way expect I will be ok tomorrow. My OH has gone out for an evening with relatives, I told him to go without me :-(
  • Evening all:

Brenda: Good to hear your OH is doing well - my friend's OH has just had cataract surgery and she's been doing the eye-drop routine too.

Rita: I LOVE Jimmy Shand - and those outfits the girls are wearing.  :-)  Great that the graduation ceremony viewing went so well

dibnlib:  Those are gorgeous pix from your trip; I especially liked the shot of your OH with Benson.

Tina: So glad the weather was good to you (and everyone else) who was off on vacation last week, but OMG -  I bet you were all soooooo glad to get home.

Lindybird: Take care of your tum.

OG: Isn't it wonderful to see these young kids all grown up.

AQ:  Sorry to hear about Jasper; I can just see you by the car juggling the twins.  New carpeting is such a treat - and beige is a good neutral color.  Not sure I could've stood 41 years of dull green (not green shag I hope, which was all the rage here back here in the 60s/70s).  :-)   I don't mind fitted sheets on the bottom (as long as they're deep enough to put on the mattress without having to argue with them!).

Arm is coming along okay. Still knee deep in old documents and the shredder is getting a good workout.

Take care all; have a good Monday and special thoughts to Margo.
