BIRDIE NUM NUM has given us a link to the BBC Scotland news item about the 'birth' of our first osplet. (If it doesn't start playing at the salient point, skip to 4m27s.)
Apart from the intruders still hanging around, yesterday was a great day for all the family. I think we all agree that the "osplet who should be the 100th to fledge" is a very strong and healthy chick.
IMAGICAT
Isn't it amazing how gentle such a big bird like EJ is when feeding her chick. It's using one of the eggs to keep it upright too! Whew, that's enough Mum, you have some now. EJ takes a couple of pecks and then settles back on her charges.

EJ nips off and Tweety is home alone.
EJ returns to a tweet from Tweety.
"Birds are, quite simply, little miracles - and as such they require care and consideration."

So will we have a second hatch during the early hours of the morning.
Odin has brought another hedgehog to the nest.
And then leaves.
2 chicks now reported on Facebook by Alison.
Oh No, Limpy, not another hedgehog
Just enlarging Limpy's pics
Jen has just announced the second chick is hatching as we speak!! Check out the latest Blog.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Is anybody else checking. I think that it is a second chick on Limpy's pic
I've been watching, and I didn't see it :(
