HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's chat thread is here: http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/placestovisit/lochgartenospreys/f/915/p/111650/864936.aspx#864936

Everyone have a wonderful week!

Here's an extraordinary new discovery! Even if you aren't interested in the science, scroll to the bottom of the article and watch the video at the end. It's truly breathtaking. Seriously, I don't think I breathed for the entire 5 minutes. By the end, I was getting dizzy. The building is the new under-construction Shanghai Tower.

  • Sounds rather warm there, Annette - hope it cools a bit soon. Glad your garden survived your absence!  We used to hear cuckoos regularly when I was growing up (on The Downs in southern England) and we also heard them most years around here when we first moved here over ten years ago, but they have been silent for at least six years now, sadly. The other day, before we had all that showery weather, I caught sight of a blue butterfly in the garden but not long enough to id it: keep peering out but it hasn't returned.  Had a nice lunch out today with my Friend: home made tomato soup with a yummy ham sandwich, and just a lingering, longing gaze at the gateau!!

  • Good that you are not feeling too bad, Margo. I'm with you every day as you travel, and thinking of you all the while - keep smiling ;-) :-)

Must get to bed before its tomorrow,'bye everyone.

  • Good Morning, Everyone. Sunny here again today and higher temps predicted, hooray! See its been quiet on here last night, so guess AQ is busy once again supporting her daughter, and Annette is getting to grips with the garden. We are off to look at kettles!!
  • Morning, Lindy - it's another beautiful day here and our temperatures are also going up.

I spotted this blog today - anyone into gardening will be very interested!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Thanks Clare - not so much gardening, as reclamation!!

  • I must confess I wouldn't have a clue where to start in a garden like that.

  • A quiet day today pottering & recovering from yesterday. LittleMiss was in a foul mood, Dau was in pain & I had a headache. Not a good mix! Dau has a date 3 weeks time unless twins think otherwise.

  • Good morning, I just want to thank you all for you kind words.  I would normally keep family situations to myself, but found it extremely easy to discuss with the group, I do find you all very warm and welcoming.

I now need to go and feed the birds, the young starlings appear to be growing in numbers each day, they do make me chuckle, such characters, not sure my neighbours feel the same.

Tonight my daughter and partner are treating us to a Thai meal, a little place in Bedford, so something to look forward to later. Have a lovely day everyone.

  • Good Morning ALL. Yes, it is a beautiful sunny morning here too.

Annette, It is not good when you get such high temperature that it is too hot to actually enjoy yourself. The heat becomes energy sapping.

Clare, Thanks for the garden link. It certainly is challenging.

Linda. Last time we had to buy a kettle I was confused by so many shelves of various makes, styles, speed of boiling the water, capacity, etc. Good Luck.

AQ, Sounds like you really do need a 'quiet day'. Your daughter is going to be so glad when the twins are born - not to mention yourself :-)). Not long to go now.

  • Tina, So glad that you felt able to ' talk' to us. Do enjoy your Thai meal this evening, you deserve a treat :-)).
