HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's chat thread is here: http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/placestovisit/lochgartenospreys/f/915/p/111650/864936.aspx#864936

Everyone have a wonderful week!

Here's an extraordinary new discovery! Even if you aren't interested in the science, scroll to the bottom of the article and watch the video at the end. It's truly breathtaking. Seriously, I don't think I breathed for the entire 5 minutes. By the end, I was getting dizzy. The building is the new under-construction Shanghai Tower.

  • The case is with the coroner now Patilly, he wasn't happy with the findings over the last week, the family have been told it may take up to 6 months even longer to finalise. The service is part of the NHS mental health team, the first told him he was in the wrong area due to where he lived the other turned him away for the same reason, he told them he was suicidal on both occasions.

  • TINA I am horrified but not surprised. This kind of tragedy is happening more and more. That will be of little comfort,I know.

  • It does make you wonder where is it all going wrong. There are 2 young boys ( 7 & 4yrs )now without their dad.

  • Hi everyone. Why do I go mad on the house and garden when the sun shines.

Annettte/ Diane, I sometimes think that we enjoyed watching the LG nest even more in the early years. I miss the zooming camera which showed the birds in the trees after they had fledged. We depended on your overnight captures.

AQ, A 'see through' garage, certainly is different. I am sure your OH will eventually tell you that it is a good idea because.......

Heather, You did very well, completing your English grammar check in such a short time. Annoying for you, but I would have done the same. Not easy to say NO :-))

OG, Have a lovely holiday. Hope you have a good journey. Sorry the PC is going to take longer to sort out. Excellent news about your grandson and I am so glad you have had a long chat with your daughter.

Linda, Sorry about your kettle. Nothing seems made to last these days. We live in a 'throw away' society, now. ( I think I am beginning to sound like my mother LOL )

Patily, Thanks for the lovely peregrine chicks capture.

Margo, So good to see your post.  I meant to ask you, if your OH is happy that Spurs have sacked their manager.

  • So sorry, Tina. Your mind must be in turmoil. Take care of yourself.

  • Tina, It's good to see you but I am so sorry to hear your news - I don't know how those people can look at themselves having turned away someone in such need of help.  I hope your mother will soon improve.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • There's a new Blog.  LOL!!

  • Tina:  You are having a bad patch, and I am trying to think of the right things to say.  You & your partner must be in shock over the sad loss of his son. I had a suicide in the family also many years ago - I think the natural reaction is to feel that you have let him down in some way, and that there should have been something you could have done/said in the past to avert the tragedy. But its obviously far more complicated than that, and you will all have to gradually come to terms with not only your loss, but the fact that it has not been anyone's fault. My condolences.  I do hope that your Mum will recover as you don't say what her problem is, but I'm sure there are many readers on here who have been in your position, as have I, and have spent many a day trudging back and forth to hospitals. We know how tiring this is, and how worrying. Do come on here and tell us how you are coping. (HUGS).

  • Hello Clare, good to hear from you,  your so right, but like HeatherB was saying it is happening more and more. re: mum my worry is now that she has not walked since Easter Sunday when she was first admitted with acute pancreatitis, brought on by gall stones. Most of her pancreas now is necrotic, so the surgeon operated to drain the dead pancreas away.  He  told us it is now 50/50, if she does recover it will mean weeks in hospital with lots of ups and downs, plus closely monitoring all her other organs. She now has a grade 2 moisture lesion, just pray it doesn't break to a pressure sore. You know rightly or wrongly I have always been one to live for the day, I am useless at planning which drives partner batty.

Brenda H thank you for your kind message.

  • Afternoon all: Hiding out in the house again today. It's 95 outside and a mere 86 inside even with all the fans going. Ugh.

Tina: What a horrible time you've had - and now this awful news about your partner's son. What's especially distressing is that he was turned away when he sought help; that's truly  inexcusable. Lindybird makes a good point when she says these situations are generally complicated and whatever guilt family members feel, it's usually not well founded though I'm sure that's of little consolation.  It's not my place to say, but in this case, I'm very firmly with patily and do hope someone finds the energy, in due time, to make sure the folks who sent him away are held responsible - "you're not in the right area" just isn't good enough!  Glad you got some enjoyment from the nests and do hope your Mom improves without further complications. Take care of yourself and have another glass or two of wine.

Heather:  Do hope you told that young lady in Denmark that you now charge for editorial services and your rates go up depending on how much time you're given for the task.  Anyway, who knows, you may have unwittingly improved those underpinning theories!  You've never heard a cuckoo???  I remember them from growing up. What a shame.

Margo: How great to hear from you again and that you're not feeling so bad.  I think your OH needs to clone himself so we can all enjoy him!

Alan: Your first cuckoo of the season and you mentioned it with no allusions to any political figures.  Well done!  :-)

OG: Don't worry about us - I don't know why it takes so long to organize a house/garden before even just a few days away - but it does. I had the same problem before my Arizona trip, even though OH was here to hold down the fort, so to speak (that did not include holding down the property around the fort however - some plants got too much water; others not enough but at least the birds didn't starve).

Brenda: I agree watching the nests seemed like more fun in the early days, but I found it was taking over every evening and I wasn't get anything else done.

Clare: I see an attack of silliness has infected the latest blog. Did like the interview with Odin; though wish he had been a bit more forthcoming. I'm sure EJ would have a lot more to say if she only had time.  :-)

Will venture out to the library later when it "cools" down somewhat.

    Take care everyone.
