Since the osprey threads tend to be here...these are the ospreys nesting at one of our local lochs (nice view of the nest from the hide too!).
Millie & Fly the Border Collies
Unknown said:I paid attention at blue leg rings seen in the area, regardless of whether a tracker was visible or not (it might have simply fallen).
We think that in the case of Blue YD the tracker malfunctioned and we think it is still attached to the bird the way Red 8T is still carrying a dead tracker.
Tiger Signature
True Tiger, but I remember having read that stuff used for fitting the tracker is designed to wear out when the expected life of the device is reached - and there's no math to exactly tell when this happens.
This is why I wanted to check whether two blue ringed birds seen at Loch of Kinnordy might be YD. Pictures are not clear enough to precisely ID them, but "YD" can be ruled out. It's only two candidate birds seen there and many other are flying in the UK, so I'm not worried for that reason.
Thank you Allison & Roberto for sharing these amazing photographs!

Roberto, thank you for the beautiful photos. I especially like the head on one.
Thanks for the link ,I will try to upload more later .
Just one chick at the loch with what I think is the male today, though all four were spotted this morning according to the hide log :) The chick was doing some practice fishing attempts and pestering very loudly for dinner! Eventually the adult left hopefully to go catch something for the youngsters dinner! They won't be around for much longer now though :(
Thank you KaiTai for your report & wonderful photographs. Sad to think they will soon be off on their journey.
Brilliant photographs and report, KatTai. Thank you.
Yeah, I'm going to miss them when they leave :(
Thank you for pictures and your report, KatTai. Happy to know once more that the Balgavies family is doing well. I'm too a bit sad as they'll migrate shortly, especially because chicks will not be identifiable when hopefully back.
Looking forward to get back to Scotland and visit again this nest soon - and I will not miss dolphins this time!
