HAPPY NEW WEEK!

On 29 April in Antarctica, an annular solar eclipse will occur. You'd have to be standing with the penguins to actually see the glorious Ring of Fire, but folks in Australia (AQ!) will see a partial solar eclipse. The rest of us can watch live coverage online at Slooh on Monday night-Tuesday morning http://events.slooh.com/ It will be beautiful!

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL week!
My location reached 26.7 C (80 F) late this afternoon. Phew! Also, I saw a really big hawk after I finished mowing, but it wasn't R.T.-- perhaps his mate.
Evening all: Nice drive - at least after a 20 minute delay for an accident on the way into LA. Then high winds near Palm Springs with bad visibility, but it was nice and clear after that. Now settled into a motel for the night after nice fresh salad at a new restaurant nearby.
Brenda: That's just awful about your son and his wife. Where do they think the bag switch might have happened? Was it just their phones and cards or other stuff too? I suspect my kitchen floor, which I swab over fairly often, may need a really good scrub. Never thought about a steam cleaner though.....that could be scary.
OG: Why on earth would both computers lose their drivers I wonder?
Diane: That's too much of a temperature change, especially after your winter. Do you even know where your summer clothes are? (Oh and, of course, thank YOU again for starting us off.)
Margo: I wonder what it was the scared that cat s much it wouldn't go up the stairs - they do seem to an extra sense. I haven't seen ghosts, but have had very specific dreams of situations and places that eventually came to pass.
Heather: Re Ukraine, I remember my mother listening to the news when I was growing up and saying that there was nothing but trouble around the world; not much has changed. For myself, I'm really tired of seeing hordes of angry men yelling and carrying on and waving guns around. Hilary Clinton described Putin as a tough guy with a thin skin whose plans for Russia's future involve dragging it back into the past. Well, he's an old KGB hand and it seems a lot of the USSR's former citizens have a hankering for the bad old days when they didn't have to do the hard work that a democracy requires. But what do I know? I'm sure it's not that simple. :-)
Must swipe face over and think about digging around in my suitcase for a nightie. So far, I've forgotten hair scrunchies and the belt for my summery pants, which get loose after one or two wearings. Oh well.....
Yesterday Daus & appendages gathered for “coffee & cake” for my birthday. I indulged with Mars bar cheesecake.
On Thurs when helping Dau2, doorbell rang. I was sent to answer & sign for big box. Only then did I realize it was for me from Dau & her OH. Inside? This delightful gift, edible blooms.
Lindt choc. YUM!
Belated Birthday wishes, AQ. Good that Younger Daughter was able to join in the celebration - and what a lovely gift - those dahlias look too good to eat!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Belated Happy Birthday AQ, cheesecake very yummy and what a beautiful flower arrangement.
Brenda how awful for your son and his wife and what an inconvenience for them. Was this a business or pleasure trip, either way it will have spoiled their time away.
Diane what a difference in temperature for you.
Heather read your and Brenda's comments re the situation in the Ukraine and could not agree more i find it all a bit unsettling.
Annette good to hear your journey is going well with just the minor delay due to an accident. Hope you had a good sleep and safe onward journey to you.
Good morning to all, have had a lot of rain overnight. Just said to OH that if this carries on we will hear the dreaded word flooding again.
Thank you OG & Margo. BTW the “flowers” are cardboard. The flower centres & leaves (pink, gold & green foil) are the chocs. I forgot to add that Dau1 gave me 2 books about travel. Miss18 & her brother gave me a box of Lindt with the instructions that the chocs must not be shared with spouse. That’s OK, my OH prefers Haigh’s, a local Adelaide choc.
AQ, Belated Birthday Wishes from me, also. You obviously had a lovely day and ate very well. I really wouldn't want to disturb the chocolate flower arrangement.
Plenty of rain overnight. Dry at the moment.
Thanks Diane for starting the week, once again. 26.7c !!! You must have been in a state of shock after the low temps you have suffered for such a long time. It would be great if you have seen RT's mate.
Annette, Hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly without any delays. We are waiting to hear from our son, who is on his way home. He did have sterling in the Hotel safe with their passports. The phones and cards have been blocked. Not a happy ending to their trip though.
Margo, I guess your OH is happy after yesterday's football result. I don't think he will be doing much gardening this weekend though.
AQ - that makes sense now - since you explained it, I can see the foils on the chocolates! I would think you could write your own book about travel, but I am sure you will enjoy reading the book whilst indulging in a surfeit of Lindt choc - sitting with your feet up, I hope!
Morning all: Slept really well; motel full but everyone quiet (most are on the road between A and B so no partying). Just made myself a cup of coffee and am off for a walk before I pop into the lobby for breakfast.
AQ: Happy Belated birthday! Gosh, I think I'm two days late with wishes instead of the usual one. You said the magic word - Lindt! That Mars bar concoction looks very naughty.
Brenda: Glad at least the passports and pounds were safe.
Margo: Oh no, not the dreaded toilet watch again? Did anything ever come of that letter to the Council on the topic?
Should be an easy drive the rest of the way. Plan to stop in Yarnell (where all those firefighters were killed last year); they have lots of antique/craft shops, then will putter on to Prescott and stop in Trader Joe's there to pick up some eats to take to g-daughter's house. She was working a 24-hour shift yesterday so want to give her time to nap and catch her breath before I arrive.
Have a good - Sunday? - all (Monday too).
