Osprey Chat Thread for April 2014

The osprey season has now well and truly begun. Old 3 (97) showed once again why he is such a fantastic osprey by again leading the pack home.

There has been a steady stream of ospreys arriving most days and by now over 60% of ospreys at projects in the public domain have returned.

One exception if the Manton Bay male, 5R. Not too concerning yet but he is definitely overdue.

Lady at Loch of the Lowes delighted everyone with a return early yesterday morning. Laddie had been showing signs of wanting to move by building another nest and also fraternising with a young female who was shown the sky by Lady.

Of course the fans were particularly delighted that Odin came back early and ensured that Blue XD is not going to get to EJ this year. We know that last we heard Blue XD he was heading toward the Pyrenees as he now sports one of those trackers. It will be interesting to see how he reacts when getting to Speyside. Will he come over to Loch Garten on the off chance.

The Dyfi birds are not back yet but there are two imposters hanging around the nest. One of the Blue 24 is a cousin of Glesni.

The Glaslyn pair are quietly getting on with it as they always do. I would not be surprised if they win the race to first egg as they have done many times before.

Such exciting times.
