Many of you may remember Carl Sagan's popular Cosmos television series. The program is returning, hosted by handsome and charming nerd scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and it promises to be astounding! The new show, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, will explore the wonders of the universe using cutting edge technology, advanced animation, and new modes of storytelling.
The new Cosmos is expensive and wildly ambitious. It will be broadcast in 170 countries and in 45 languages, the largest global opening for a television series ever.
In the U.K.: The show premieres next Sunday (16 March) at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast by U.K. National Geographic Channel.
In the U.S.: The show premieres this Sunday (9 March) at 9:00 p.m. and will be simulcast on the National Geographic Channels and the Fox network channels.
In Australia: The show premieres next Sunday (16 March) at 7:30 p.m. on Australia National Geographic Channel.
I couldn't find the information for France. Sorry!
You can get more background information in this article. I highly recommend this series.
Beautiful Bowie:
ALAN - Bowie is looking quite grown-up now - love his feathery feet!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Sorry to see you haven't had good news Margo, I hope all goes well for you,
The more you rush, the longer it takes
Why oh why does our Arts Centre insist on advertising events "with refreshments" and all you get is a single glass of something? I expect at least a few canapés, if not sandwiches and sausage rolls! The actual exhibition was fine - a preview of artists' work in advance of the annual Spring Fling in May.
Never mind. At least we got a 'naughty' Chinese takeaway to enjoy afterwards.
... one portion shared, of course! And I would have preferred canapés anyway!
I agree, OG. That is very misleading. Undoubtedly some folk may have had a very light snack or nothing at all before going. In my book, refreshments means something to eat and drink.
The little girls are fast asleep and I have turned in also. I'm listening to a rather strange Elizabethan drama on Radio 4 - not grabbing me at all, I'm afraid.
Good night, Heather - sleep well!
Margo – so sorry to hear your “down” news. Sending healing thoughts & prayers.
Welcome back OG
Diane – Thank you for the decorated churches. They put our modern plain buildings to shame. One thing I noticed on first trip to Europe was the colourful church interiors.
Brenda – Yes, Thurs was helping Dau2 day. Not so bad as I had a short day, arriving about 1 pm and “working” until her OH came home from work 5.15 pm. By then Dau was fast asleep. Earlier LM was helping me peg out the washing – she doled out the pegs 2 at a time ever so slowly. But why rush? That only means more chores could be done LOL. LM had one major tantrum. Yesterday t’other g-par were taking LM to the zoo. I hope they can run fast!!!!
Voting today for state election. I went around early as there was nothing else to do – we had a thunderstorm about 6.30 am. One last tremendous clap of thunder and our power went off. A few streets away at school (polling booth) there was power. It’s only just come back. Builder probably starting next week. OH & I tossing out accumulated “stuff” from garage with renewed enthusiasm now we have a date..
Evening all:
Didn't have to do much at daughter's; she'd already done most of it. Somehow ended up tired anyway after stopped to buy gift wrap, ribbons, cards, etc. for upcoming b'day.
AQ; What are you going to build?
