HAPPY NEW WEEK!!!
It's almost spring! I have never been so glad to see spring in all my life!
Last week's chat thread is HERE. The code for this week's thread is WC090314.

Many of you may remember Carl Sagan's popular Cosmos television series. The program is returning, hosted by handsome and charming nerd scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and it promises to be astounding! The new show, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, will explore the wonders of the universe using cutting edge technology, advanced animation, and new modes of storytelling.
The new Cosmos is expensive and wildly ambitious. It will be broadcast in 170 countries and in 45 languages, the largest global opening for a television series ever.
In the U.K.: The show premieres next Sunday (16 March) at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast by U.K. National Geographic Channel.
In the U.S.: The show premieres this Sunday (9 March) at 9:00 p.m. and will be simulcast on the National Geographic Channels and the Fox network channels.
In Australia: The show premieres next Sunday (16 March) at 7:30 p.m. on Australia National Geographic Channel.
I couldn't find the information for France. Sorry!
You can get more background information in this article. I highly recommend this series.
Heather - I am so sorry about the plate, I do understand how upset you must be feeling, but as Brenda says 'these things do happen' sometimes and I am sure S. would not want you to pay for it. How bad is the damage? can it possibly be repaired without showing too much?
I also saw the canal programme and enjoyed it very much although sad about Prunella Scales dementia, but they both seemed to be enjoying their trip so much.
Limpy - very good Monday smiles,I had a good laugh, I liked the first one best.
Clare - Thank you so much for sharing your day at Minsmere with us, lovely pictures, it really makes me wish to visit Minsmere myself sometime.
Brenda - do hope your car gets sorted out soon and is not too big a job.
Dibnlib - Like the 'Dog Rules'. Have so enjoyed watching Crufts Dog show for the last few days, I really look forward to it every year but have never managed an actual visit. My eldest son has been one of the resident vets on duty two or three times in the past. I think the agility classes and flyball competitions are amazing to watch, such a high standard!
Evening all: Phew! Finally got the internet back after poor guy spent about three hours replacing one thing and another before finding it was the final link that had broken! All okay now. Whale counting today - just one very lazy, low-blowing whale that puttered by, but nothing like last week's bumper crop. OK. Now to catch up.
Diane: Love that link to church decorations. Fascinating how different cultures show their devotion. Santa Barbara does have lovely architecture, but it's surprisingly new - thanks to the earthquake of 1925, when the city fathers decreed that Spanish Colonial/Mission Revival styles should prevail. I recorded the new Cosmos, but missed the Slooh show. Hurray for RTH!
Brenda: Hope the Prius is okay now.
Clare: Managed to zip through your Minsmere pix - some very nice ones there.
Alicat: !!!! You're working too hard!
Lynette: I hate being the only people in a restaurant. That choir sounds great. Sorry to hear about your OH's bro. :-(
AQ: I agree with Heather; keeping a low profile has definite rewards. Sometimes it's best to avoid family phone calls. :-)
Limpy: Thanks for the smiles! Our washing machine took some getting used to (as did the new oven, the new microwave, the new phones, etc., etc., and so forth).
Brenda: Only three cycles on your washer? Amazing. Ours has multiple options with multiple permutations. On the plus side, it and the dryer (both Samsung) play the first few bars of a German folk tune to let you know the cycle has ended. Very pretty actually. Thanks for letting us know Lindybird arrived okay; hope the weather stabilizes.
Heather: Oh dear. Reminds me of that saying: No good deed goes unpunished. Is the plate badly chipped and would it really cost that much to replace it? Rita has a good idea about having it repaired. Very good of you to inform nephew; not sure I would've done the same.
Thanks everyone for posts and pix; sorry I couldn't respond to all. Nice to be back online. Have a good Tuesday and hope all goes well with Margo.
Coffee with Friend this morn (only overdue about 4 weeks!!!) followed by food shopping. Arrived home to find a phone message that Dau2 had rung. I rang her but by then she had contacted Miss18 to come & help. Dau missed me by 10 mins. I’m now booked for Thurs pm. It’s been raining, thus horrid & humid.
Good Morning ALL, Cloudy start here.
Thinking of Margo this Morning.
Annette, Pleased to see your internet connection has been repaired. I do have multiple cycles on my washing machine but find that I only regularly use about three of them. Mine doesn't play tunes when it finishes the wash though, it just beeps.
AQ, You should go out for coffee more frequently. LOL Feel sorry for your daughter though. It doesn't sound as if she is having a comfortable pregnancy.
Heather, Hope you are feeling less annoyed with yourself this morning. X
Good Morning everyone
Also thinking about MARGO today.
BRENDA/RITA/ANNETTE I have heard from S's nephew, he has shown great understanding and told me not to worry. For that I am extremely grateful. I feel a lot better today but kept 'seeing' the plate during the night. RITA I think that it can be repaired but (perhaps I have watched too many antiques progs on TV!)the value will be affected. I didn't realise, when I found it in her kitchen, that it was collectable, I just recognised the name on the back and did some research online which included corresponding with the Secretary of the Carlton Ware Collectors' club once I realised it's potential value.
A beautiful day here today,I have sent OH on a shopping mission while I do a mini spring clean in our little family room, den, whatever I feel like calling it at the time (usually just The Back Room, although I have a friend who calls her version of it The Snug. Reason/excuse for chasing the dust bunnies is because new bookcase arrives this afternoon. Who knows what might be lurking behind the old one.
AQ You are a saintly mother and will have LOADS to help with when the twins arrive!! But what joy there will be in your family. Glad that Miss 18 could step in. I am going through to Elgin to look after the two little girls, on Friday and staying the night. Youngest daughter has a 60th party to attend and her OH is away just now.
I'm happy to see ANNETTE back and hope that BRENDA's car gets sorted soon.
Better go and grab a duster or three
Good afternoon, People. Been enjoying comments and pictures whilst not posting. Thinking of Margo today, Brenda with car trouble and Heather rushing about too much ("calm down, dear"!).
All well here. Gardening started 1st March, with a break for rain last week (local rivers were over their banks), and now making faster progress with the lovely Spring weather.
Daffs above are the Tete-a-Tete, but large ones have now started opening; Crocuses now past their best, and Snowdrops and Dwarf Iris totally finished; I found buds in the Tulips yesterday, and even on one of the Heucheras!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG Delighted to see you again, old friend (!)
Yes, 'Calm down dear, its only a plate' as in Michael Winner's insurance ads -
This glorious video is for Annette and all Whale People.
My thoughts are with Margo today.
I'll be back later to catch up.
I have had a call from Margo. She has asked me to tell you that she has not received good news, re her platelet count. She will possibly post tomorrow when she will know more. She really is so appreciative of all your wishes to her but as you will understand, she does need time to get her thoughts together.
