Many of you may remember Carl Sagan's popular Cosmos television series. The program is returning, hosted by handsome and charming nerd scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and it promises to be astounding! The new show, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, will explore the wonders of the universe using cutting edge technology, advanced animation, and new modes of storytelling.
The new Cosmos is expensive and wildly ambitious. It will be broadcast in 170 countries and in 45 languages, the largest global opening for a television series ever.
In the U.K.: The show premieres next Sunday (16 March) at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast by U.K. National Geographic Channel.
In the U.S.: The show premieres this Sunday (9 March) at 9:00 p.m. and will be simulcast on the National Geographic Channels and the Fox network channels.
In Australia: The show premieres next Sunday (16 March) at 7:30 p.m. on Australia National Geographic Channel.
I couldn't find the information for France. Sorry!
You can get more background information in this article. I highly recommend this series.
Good morning
I'm sorry to hear about ANNETTE's internet problems and BRENDA's car. Hope that all will be sorted, soon.
AQ - Keep your head down!! I know exactly what you are saying--
LYNETTE- sad news for you and OH,I'm sorry.
A beautiful sunny morning here,about 5 degrees.
Have a good day, ALL
PS ALICAT- Are you doing two jobs?
Good Morning ALL. Another lovely sunny morning. Temperature at 9c now. It was only 3c at 7.30am.
Lynette, Sorry to hear the news of Ray's elder brother.
AQ, Hope you haven't received any phone calls and are able to rest at home.
Alicat, Can you not refuse to work so many hours, especially as you now know you have another job ?
Waiting for a phone call from Toyota about the car now.
CLARE, I have just finished looking at your first set of pics, fantastic, I will show them to my OH when he comes home from the bowls. What luck with the otter! I tried to reply on the thread itself but things went all pearshaped and weird. Don't know if it is the site or my tablet:-( Thank you again. Will look at Part 2 later, must talk to the washing machine.
Heather, you have to join the Minsmere group before you are allowed to reply, but maybe you know that already :-)) That is why I posted my reply to Clare on here. yesterday.
Ah, BRENDA Thank you, I didn't know that!! Silly me. Multi tasking as usual (at least, that is my excuse)
I also forgot, earlier, to tell DIANE how pleased I am for her that her hawk returned.
I have just phoned the bakery to check that S's cake has been made. I am the world's worst worrier about that kind of thing.
Back later
Good morning all and another glorious day. Bit chilly first thing but what a joy to have had sunshine for a few days now. The good side is it makes me feel a whole lot better but the downside is the windows are filthy. Think window cleaner is due soon though. Sounds as though it is going to be pretty settled for the rest of the week. Went for blood tests this morning at surgery bur ended up taking them to the pathology department ourselves. Because I am being tested for another couple of things, one of them being Vitamin D level and something else I can't read and they have to be tested within a couple of hours from when they we're taken, the collection from the surgery at lunchtime would be too late. Traffic was at its worst at that time of the morning so OH was late getting to work. Consultant visit tomorrow so fingers crossed platelet count will have improved. Feeling better about things now and a lot more positive.
Spent a lot of time outside over the weekend, OH can't mow the lawns but managed to tidy things up in general. Billie and I sat in the sun together enjoying the warmth. She wants to go out a lot more now weather is better but she is definitely a fair weather cat now. Her leg has completely healed up and she obviously feels a lot more like playing. She has a toy box with all her toys in and during the course of the day she will have everything out. Will have to train her to put it all back.
Tragic news about the plane that has disappeared and as yet no sightings of wreckage etc. the fact that 2 people were travelling on stolen passports does make me wonder if this was a terrorist attack. Simply awful for all those families who are waiting for news.
Welcome back diane and thanks for starting the week off and also for the link to the UK showing of cosmos. Hope you have managed to get some quality sleep. Delighted that your RT Hawk has survived the harsh winter and is looking fit and healthy. I think he must be your guardian angel.
AQ hope you enjoyed your trip. Heat still pretty unbearable for you no wonder you feel very tired. Hopefully you did receive a phone call asking for help.
Clare so p,eased you enjoyed your day at Minsmere and thanks for the photos.
dibnlib Wlie's story so sad but at least he now has a family who love him. It is marvellous that he accepts that not all humans want to harm him. Your meal, out, as usual, sounded delicious.
Hope Annette's internet problem will be sorted soon.
ALICAT they seem to be be excessively long working hours. Hope your new job will not incur so many hours.
Brenda must have been a relief that the care managed the 25 miles without breaking down. At least you have a replacement but hopefully your car can be fixed quickly. Your lawns sound just like ours, we probably need weeks of dry weather before we can mow.
Lynette sorry to read your sad news. I too hope that you do not have to wait a long time for the funeral. Glad you enjoyed your lunch but must have been a bit strange to be on your own for part of it. Friday music evening sounded very entertaining for you.
Heather glad you have some sun this morning as it looked as though you may have had a pretty wet weekend.
haveva good day all and enjoy the sun.
Good Morning to everyone, It's Monday and we have no Lindybird.Lindy We hope you are having a good start to your holiday and we will all miss you while you are away. And of cause that means no Monday Smiles which we all look forwards too, so here goes these will not be as good as Lindys would have been.
A try at the Monday Smiles
I think this was for the small person

Thank you, Limpy. I like the second one the best. I presume the third one, may be for wheelchair access, but not much use for anyone else.
Good afternoon all we have the sun here today after a miserable wet and windy weekend. As I was watching the football yesterday and they were getting the sun I felt rather hard done by.
Limpy your last Monday smile is just about true as there are that many different cycles on washing machines I keep the instruction booklet close to find out what cycle I have to use.
Clare your photos from Minsmere are very good and there is such a variety of species that it must be a delight to visit there.
Margo I am praying that you will get good news tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good week and the weather isd kind to us.

LIMPY Thank you for the smiles. I will add mine at the end of this.
watched Crufts last night and saw the most wonderful Goldie. Think there were nearly 600 Goldies all together. The Grandsire of our 2nd Goldie was best of breed at Crufts and Fingal was indeed the most handsome of dogs. The standard poodle who won was not our cup of tea (why oh why do they clip these dogs in such a bizarre fashion) but he did look as if he was relishing every moment.
