Thought it sensible to create a new thread where we can keep each other abreast of which Ospreys have returned to the Public sites. Please don't post any information on non protected locations
32/05 has now returned to Rutland as well as 03/97

Quote from Peter at Loch of the Lowes...
Hi All
Its not our resident male on the nest. This bird has a green ring with “7Y” on.

So, it will be intersting to find out who this newcomer is, as he is ringed 7Y, how enthralling!
Thanks hazelwoods shame it is not Eric but at least a male has turned up and hopefully she can produce some chicks again this year. As they have mated I am assuming he will be back.
Margobird
She must have been watching Loose Women this week :)

Yes Alan, when they showed a close up of the ring it was evident that this bird wasn't Eric.
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Anybody got any clues where and when green 7Y was ringed?
I bet Tiger will know Sandy.
I notice that LOTL said Eric had a B on his ring but for some reason I thought it was an 8. I have a capture of his leg ring somewhere, must find it.
Update from Bassenthwaite - usefully they've included all the dates for the return of their ospreys from previous years.

This is an update of a post from yesterday concerning which birds were still missing from the well known nest sites:
Loch Garten: Odin (male) - arrived at 7:30 on 03/04/2010
Loch of the Lowes: Eric (male) - new male (green 7Y) arrived mid morning on 04/04/2010
Kielder Water: Female
Cors Dyfi: Both male and female - possible sighting on 03/04/2010
Rutland Water: Female (mate of 32(05))
Caerlaverock: One reported late on 03/04/2010
It would be remarkable if all the nesting pairs were to make it back this year.
Interesting news from RW. 03(97)'s regular mate has turned up - trouble is he's already shacked up with another female!
