Thought it sensible to create a new thread where we can keep each other abreast of which Ospreys have returned to the Public sites. Please don't post any information on non protected locations

Bassenthwaite ospreys.
For all of you who know the track up to the viewpoint at Dodd Wood:This poem was posted on their site:Monday August 9th 2010Half way up Dodd hill is the place where I sitThere isn’t any other place quite like it BECAUSEThey’re not at the bottom. They weren’t at the top.Wherever I’m looking, they’re in the other spot!Half way up Dodd hill I chat a little bitTo the man who’s just seen them –He thinks he is a witHe’s viewed them at the bottomAnd twice at the topAnd he’s going to celebrate with cake down at the Sawmill shopHalf way up Dodd Hill I meet a lady with a stickShe says ‘Get off the ground my lad – walking makes you fit’But I’ve raced up from the bottomAnd sprinted from the topHow many ospreys have I seen? The answer’s not a lot!Half way up Dodd hill is where I’d like to see them flitBut until I too have seen them I will never quit So if they’re fishing at the bottom I’ll slide down from the topIf they’re absent at the bottom I’ll clamber to the topFor I’m an osprey lover and I know I’ll never stop.(anon)
Thanks for the poem about the Bassenthwaite ospreys Alan, quite humerous.

Female may have left on migration from Bassenthwaite. Latest podcast:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/ospreys
I was up at Dodd (Lower) today and the staff member I spoke to thought that the female had been seen today, but they are expecting her to go anytime soon. I saw a juve on a post by the lake which had a go at trailing its feet, and another one ( or the same one a bit later)sitting in a tree by the river but it did not take the plunge .
Also saw a red squirrel, there have not been as many this year, they think because of the hard winter.
I went to Dodd Wood yesterday and today, and all four osps were seen today, so Mrs hasn't left yet. Juvenile in the dead tree in river mouth both days, and an adult arrived later both days.
