Weekly Chat, Sunday, March 21, 2010

Will EJ return this week?  What if another female tries to claim the nest?  Will super-Odin return to fish another year? Or will EJ take another mate (she'd better not!!)  Will YOU be the lucky blogger to catch the first glimpse of an osprey at LG?  Tune in to the Loch Garten LIVE webcam for the first installment of Loch Garten Ospreys - 2010!!

Seriously, lots of interesting chat on the last page or two of the previous week's chatter.  Catch up now because you won't have time once the ospreys are back in town!  :-)

Was just looking at this cam and put a message and now I see I have spelt it wrong.  Not much hope for me is there.  I am darting about between all the cams trying not to miss things but it is getting a bit beyond me at the moment, so much to check up on.

  • Morning all: So. EJ prefers p.m. arrivals - that suits me just fine since it's p.m. in the UK by the time I've pried open my eyes.  You can tell spring is on its way to you folks in the UK/Europe since the posts reflect a definite upbeat tone when it's sunny or warmer (or maybe it's only osprey related).

Tiger: So thoughtful of you to do the legwork for me on the ISS site Thank you!  I've printed out the April 5 route.  It's great fun to grab the binocs and rush out the door, telling OH, "I'm going out to see the International Space Station."  The World Visitor map is amazing, showing all the hits in the last 30 days. So much unifies us on this planet; if we could just get rid of the politicians.....  :-)

Tish: Your good humor is contagious.  :-)

OG: Maybe that was a campers' site on Trucker Cam - he mentions going hiking yesterday. What do I know? i'm into history, not camping.  :-)   He should be getting a new assignment soon since his truck looks like it's one of the few remaining in that huge parking lot...

OK. So woke up at 5 and am going to risk catching an hour's nap in the hopes EJ won't arrive in the meantime.  Back later. Take care all.

  • Both birds on Glaslyn nest! :) Happy days!

    Happy Days :))

  • Thanks to All for great pics. today.  We are really 'off again' now with the ospreys, and indeed, other nests, too.  That's a clever thought about the spread of the migrations, Alan.   It makes sense.  Find it pretty amazing to see the lists of dates when the birds return each year & see how close they are in time. Its irresistible to imagine EJ looking at a calendar and marking off the days!

Don't worry about replying to all posts, Margobird:  there are so many of us on here now its nigh on impossible.   Glad to hear you in good heart, and sorry to hear (now that I've read back on some of the posts I missed while away) that you had such a scare.  Had a situation once like that myself, so I know how scary it can be.  All's well that ends well, as Shakespeare said.

  • Bardsey Bird: I cant see your screenshots for some reason. I wonder if this one will show:

  • OG  forgot to say that I  loved your chaffinch photo and now have it as a temp desktop (whent he osps arrive I usually have an osp as desktop)Have noted the camera you used and may well get one as ours is very limiting.

Loved all the piccies that have been posted , thank you

  • Thankyou Alan, don't know what happened there - lucky someone is on the ball!

    Happy Days :))

  • Bardsey Bird : Sometimes the photos dont show for some reason. I think it is a technical problem with the RSPB servers.

  • Nice capture Alan. Won't be long before these two have eggs :)
