Will EJ return this week? What if another female tries to claim the nest? Will super-Odin return to fish another year? Or will EJ take another mate (she'd better not!!) Will YOU be the lucky blogger to catch the first glimpse of an osprey at LG? Tune in to the Loch Garten LIVE webcam for the first installment of Loch Garten Ospreys - 2010!!
Seriously, lots of interesting chat on the last page or two of the previous week's chatter. Catch up now because you won't have time once the ospreys are back in town! :-)
Looks like they have messed things up adding in all those new groups wiyh only 1 member!!!!!
Some news from the Lake District:
How exciting Alan! They are getting nearer and nearer to Scotland now! I was just looking back over some of the postings made while I was away, there is a lot to catch up on. Must go to bed now as tired today. Hope we can 'get into' here tomorrow...
I noticed Katie Fuller at The Lodge set up the many new Groups for Reserves, so have put a message on her page about LG Ospreys Group disappearing - after all, we are the biggest group they have!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Another temp solution to the access problem; come in on the link from the LG Diary page, then once you're here, set up the Forum as a Favorite (which is a function of your own computer's web browser).
I don't post very often, but do keep up to date with what is going on, so was horrified to discover LG group had disappeared!! entered via "my page". Hope things back to normal asap. Exciting watching and reading news of returning ospreys. Thank you to all you very knowledgable (?spelling?) folk who keep us informed re what is going on.
Awwwwwwwwwwww. See http://www.palemale.com/

I'm here O.G! I followed Sue C's post about the lost group and then thought to get here from my own page which worked out just fine. Absolutely gorgeous Goldfinch photo, btw!!
Whilst I'm still job hunting, I'm trying to be outdoors everyday to watch the Kestrel activity which has really been on the rise in the past week or so. I've been lucky enough to figure out some of the favorite hangouts of our neighborhood pair and have been rewarded with quite a few sightings though I have yet to locate their nesting area.
Hip, Hip, Huzzah! The Ospreys are coming home at last!!!!!!!!!
Btw Paul: I must have been Scots in a previous life as I think all the men should have long hair and wear kilts! =O)
Evening all: Haven't had any trouble getting on the site at all; hope it's all sorted out and that OG's note to Katie F did the trick!
OG: I'd really love to have someone prepare meals so I could stay out in the garden, at the whales, taking care of the roses without having to worry about it. Thanks for the links to the girls' videos. I'll check them out. See Trucker Cam took the day off; must've parked the truck/his cam, in what looked like a historical area with all those cabins - it was a live pix 'coz the shadows and colors changed throughout the day.
My fellow whale counters saw 25 today - much better visibility apparently.
OK. Saw the ISS again this evening - right on schedule. I have more homework to do regarding positions in the sky since I was a bit clueless as to degrees and direction. Thanks again Tiger.
Hi, all. I actually looked at the LG nest just now. I guess I think that EJ and Odin might arrive on the night bus. LOL! The suspense grows... It's possible that EJ will arrive late, given that she left later. I'm very behind here, and so I can't acknowledge everything that's been happening. But just a few notes:
SueC: Thanks for the peregrine news! Indy peregrines now have 4 eggs. When Kinney (the male) tries to take over the incubation, he has a terrible time covering all 4 eggs. Here's a video of his heroic efforts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5lxRSECRxI I'm a tad worried, though, because I thought Kinney's breathing seemed a little hampered in this video -- maybe it was just the stress.
Tiger: I told you Marge would be back! :-) I want to add my condolences to you for the loss of your good cyber friend. Sorry I'm a late with this. I know that online friends can be very important parts of our lives.
AQ: Oh, lovely photos from you!!! I love that red wattlebird. Also adored the noisy miner. He looks like he could talk if he wanted to. Alan: Thanks for the alert about the New Forest Goshawk cam. I like to watch that New Forest cam. Antie: I'm always delighted to hear from you whenever you can stop in. No worries!
Lindybird: Agreed completely with your "soapbox" opinion. Health care is a human right, I think. Even after the bill passage, we are still a very long way from achieving UK-type health care, unfortunately. Thanks for your caring. Sounds like the surprise party and trip was a great success.
Heron77/Paul: Really loved those beautiful chaffinch pictures. Wonderful! Like Caerann and Annette, I also like long hair on men. So that's 100% approval from the 3 American women on this site. :-) OG: I'm using your photo as today's desktop wallpaper, too! DjoanS: Hope you have a lovely trip!
Caerann: Good to see you. I thought of you on Monday. I had to go on a long drive through Parke County, and I scanned the trees all the way there and back for bald eagles. I didn't see any this time. The population is supposed to be wildly increasing, but I guess they were all hiding from me! Good luck on your kestrel watch. Glad to hear that you are allowing yourself time outdoors. Very necessary to rejuvenate oneself. That's wild that your neighbor thought the tornado siren was a lightening warning. Yikes! We have a fair number of tornadoes here, so people usually respond to the warnings. Unfortunately, I don't have a basement or a single room that doesn't have a window!
Annette: Sounds like you're having dense fog like we are. Sorry it hampered your whale count. I agreed with your soapbox tax rant! Glad you saw the ISS! Isn't it amazing to think that they are all up there, working away? Trucker Steve had to take the day off because he was out of hours. (You probably already know, but for the others: U.S. gov'ment limits the number of hours truckers can drive in a day and in an 8-day period to avoid dangerous sleep deprivation.)
I was playing Scrabble online (against a bot) in the wee hours this morning -- still dark and very heavy fog. I had just used all of my letters, so the computer gave me these 7 new letters in this exact order: DIAN RUN. Spooky, huh?!? Don't know what I was supposed to run from, but I had to check the house and make sure the doors were locked. Looked around for Stephen King. LOL Night all.
