Simply amazing. Scientists in Tasmania are tracking bees with tiny sensors. The next stage is to shrink the sensor to track fruit fly & mosquitoes.
Temp may be cooler but the high humidity makes it feel just as unpleasant. The bushfires have destroyed at least 15 homes, 425,000 hectares, not to mention stock, crops & fencing. Concern that the first stage of the Tour DownUnder may have to be cancelled as the route is through one of the bushfire areas. Many of the fires, some still not under control, are in areas I have visited or plan to visit on photo excursions. News is much worse when one can picture the scene rather than just another anonymous place in the news. I haven't been out in the car since last Mon and driving to church this morn I felt quite strange.
AQ: You and I were starting the new thread at the same time, but mine was screwed up (so what else is new!) :-) Thanks. I was trying to give Diane a break. Have you seen those nature films where they have cameras on bees? Simply amazing. Hope the temps - and humidity - will settle down soon. It's a shock, isn't it, to drive through areas devastated by fire, with just the burnt skeletons of trees left. What's truly amazing though is how soon green shoots start popping through the debris...
Heather: Entertaining a Peer of the Realm? Does he have a stately home? Please give broad hint in next post!! :-))
Have been completely out of sorts today thanks to exciting wake up this morning; didn't manage to nap and now my stomach seems to have taken on a life of its own; have made some chamomile tea and will keep dinner simple. Poor OH will probably have leftovers - again.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Annette - Sorry we clashed. Great minds think alike as my mother used to say!
The arrival of the ship "City of Adelaide" has been delayed due to bad weather when they called into Norfolk, Virgina. You can track the present location (scroll down to map).
Thanks, AQ, for starting the new thread. And thanks, Annette, for thinking of me.
I'll catch up in the morning. Really tired tonight. Everyone have a great Sunday!
Morning everyone. Glad to see there was some lively banter last night!!
Well, it looks as if some folk here had an "interesting" evening!
Thanks, AQ for starting us off on the new week and ANNETTE for the good intention! Sorry Diane was feeling so tired: I hope she is now enjoying a good sleep.
Supposed to be a brighter day, but it hasn't arrived here yet: not as dark as yesterday and just damp air rather than drizzle, so we can hope for improvement. Have been out to the greenhouse to check on Geraniums, Fuchsias and Crysanths: all well so far. It's time to make a list of seeds for this year's veg garden; that always makes spring seem closer.
Have a good week, everyone!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good Morning ALL. Everywhere still wet here but the sun is trying to shine. We came home from my brother's yesterday evening, having stayed Friday night with them. I was reading the amusing banter, but didn't have the energy to say anything. We even slept in this morning, so missed going to church !!
Thanks to AQ for starting the week.
Linda, If I showed you my driving licence and my photograph, you would feel much better about your ' work of art '. I think they creased my photograph, hence all those lines on my face, LOL
What a quiet thread today after yesterday evening's chat.

Good afternoon all it is a dreich day here and it does tend to get you down. When out walking you tend to sink into the ground as we have had so much wet weather that at times you are walking in mud and Diesel comes home with muddy paws and a muddy tummy and if you open the door and don't catch him quick he is in the kitchen making his paw marks all over the floor.
During the last week have had visits to both my GP and the cardiac consultant and my medication has been changed again so I have to go and have more blood test done next week to see what the medication is doing to my blood and then visit the GP a week later to get the results with a visit back to cardioligy in April.
The small boy that went missing was found not very far away from where I live in a area that is surrounded by a wooded area which is part of Raith Estate, but who told the police to go and search that area?
I enjoyed the banter about the moth eaten kilt and jersey but the old upper class all used to go about looking like tramps.
Near here we used to have old Lady Wemyss going about and what she used to wear we would have put in a rag bag. She used to drive about the area till she was over ninety and only stopped after she knocked somebody down but the incident was quickly covered up.
I hope everyone keeps well and manages to survive the weather.

George g : When I heard where the little boy was found , I thought you might live nearby. Sorry about Diesels muddy paws, we have the same problem here with Bowie as there has been no end of wet weather. Hope all is well at the docs and you get your meds sorted out ok.
