Simply amazing. Scientists in Tasmania are tracking bees with tiny sensors. The next stage is to shrink the sensor to track fruit fly & mosquitoes.
Temp may be cooler but the high humidity makes it feel just as unpleasant. The bushfires have destroyed at least 15 homes, 425,000 hectares, not to mention stock, crops & fencing. Concern that the first stage of the Tour DownUnder may have to be cancelled as the route is through one of the bushfire areas. Many of the fires, some still not under control, are in areas I have visited or plan to visit on photo excursions. News is much worse when one can picture the scene rather than just another anonymous place in the news. I haven't been out in the car since last Mon and driving to church this morn I felt quite strange.
Site is playing up again. Besides having to sign in again, I found that if I wanted to edit anything, nothing happens. Tried one post, and went for a shower & got dressed whilst waiting for it to post.... still there when I got back!
Good Morning ALL. Still dry here. Waiting for the rain to arrive!!
Diane, The Mountain Ash video is well worth watching and I love the patterns of the birds flying. Very interesting to compare the drought pictures. As others have said, we can't view the BBC one.
Have you been able to go out and shop yet ?
Linda, I did smile at the thoughts of your son coming home to Mum for second helpings of her cooking.
Mary, Thanks for the link to auntie's photographs. I have always admired her photo's.
Auntie, Fantastic photographs. Thank you.
The rain has arrived !!!!
In spite of that, will try to post some pics of my orchid which was bought for me by my OH for Christmas, the flowers are nearly all out now:
_ grrr! Have another pic of it, but its disappeared! --- Must go out now.........

Good morning all, just been catching up again. Have been doing some jobs that I have wanted to do for so long. Tidying up drawers and wardrobes and filling up bags of clothes that are never likely to fit me again due to the weight loss. All can go to charity where I am sure they will be of use to someone. Quite a few of the items are brand new, never been worn and still with price tag attached. Felt very tired as it has been a long time since I have done antsy thing that requires a lot of standing.
Went for my bone scan yesterday but will not know the results until March when I attend the Diabetes Clinic again. Hopefully by then the VitaminD level will have improved and will only have take one tablet a day instead of what I am taking now. OH says at least every part of my body is being looked at and if there should be problems, they will be found.
I see that there are some comments regarding Winterwatch. I only watched the first one and apart from Chris Packham I just cannot get on with Michaela Stracken and Martin Hughes-Games. Only my personal view but it was much better in the days of Bill Oddie and Simon King when there seemed to be a lot going on.
AQ congratulations to daughter and you. My word your daughter will have her hands full with 2 additions to the family at the same time. it must be a pretty trying time for her in all that heat. Wonder how Little Miss will adapt to the arrivals. Hope all goes well for her. How lovely to see Lorikeets in the garden. When we went to Cornwall we would always visit Paradise Park. Not the normal type of Zoo as the are heavily into conservation of exotic birds. They had a large aviary full of Lorikeets and you coukd purchase nectar in little containers and walk through feeding them. Wonderful to have several on your hend and arms sucking up the nectar. So colourful as well.
Brenda sorry you are getting the rain we had earlier. More forecast tonight and the forecast for the next few days looking pretty dire, especially Sunday. I was wondering how your outdoor bowling green was coping with all this very wet weather. I suppose it could even delay the start of the outdoor season.
The disease that has been killing dogs in the New Forest was first reported in 2012 bit it is only now that they have a name for it. Terribly sad way to lose a beloved pet.
It was a shame about Andy losing but by his own admission he wasn't expecting to get as far as he did. imshoukd imagine he felt a bit apprehensive about his back. Have to admit though Roger Federer looked pretty impressive. Stefan Edberg certainly seems to be helping him.
Diane thanks for the various links posted, will be looking through them later. I did however look at Times Square cam. So dark and a lot of snow falling. See you still have a lot of snow with more possible. I suppose you will have to get out at some time to stock up with provisions but please take care and no climbing trees.
Mary thanks for the feeder captures from LG, birds and red squirrel very busy. Thanks also for the link to auntie's osprey pics. They are extremely good.
Clare and Limpy thanks for the photos.
Clare you must be pleased that Limpy is noticing the difference already. Makes the pain worth it, hope you have a good soak in a warm bath.
Annette pleased to see you have clothes back unmarked. Enjoy your periods of relaxation. Not sure abiut holiday insurance for me. OH will look into when he has a moment which is not very often.
auntie lovely photos of your garden birds. Have also been looking at your wonderful osprey photos. They are very good, take a bow.
Heather sorry to,read that your daughter is having a down time. I suppose the upcoming divorce brings back all the hurt again. She is so fortunate to have such a loving Mum to support her.
OG I am a big fan of Gordon Buchanan, so good as a film maker and narrator. I think I read a while ago that he was going back to film the bears in Minnesota again. He seems to be away filming most of the time, his family do not see a lot of him.
jsb pleased the drying out process is going well.
Lynette a belated Happy Birthday to,you. Busy but enjoyable culminating in a birthday meal.
Lindybird your son obviously enjoys Mum's cooking. I expect you took this into account and cooked enough for second helpings. On several occasions I have had to change good morning to good afternoon as it has taken so long to go. Pleased to see final finishes applied to spare bedroom by way of bedside cabinet.
Clouding over again and waiting for the next band of rain.
Off to do a bit of lunch now and think I will have a bit of a break from sorting out bedroom. Take care all.
Coming to a Tory marginal near you. Due to popular demand another 100,000 A6 stickers have been ordered:

That is a beautiful orchid Lindy.
OG, yes, thank you - Gordon. I knew when I typed it that it wasn't quite right but it's a while since I've seen anything of his and my aging brain clearly had a senior moment.
Just got home from work, had a quick scan of emails and this blog but now I think I am off to bed. I have an awful throat and cough. It started on Sunday. To begin with I didn't really feel so bad but now it's taking hold. Just spoke to a friend on the phone and she couldn't believe it was me as my voice is so bad.
I do hope you feel better soon, Trish. Take it easy.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Trish look after yourself and hope you feel better soon.
