Simply amazing. Scientists in Tasmania are tracking bees with tiny sensors. The next stage is to shrink the sensor to track fruit fly & mosquitoes.
Temp may be cooler but the high humidity makes it feel just as unpleasant. The bushfires have destroyed at least 15 homes, 425,000 hectares, not to mention stock, crops & fencing. Concern that the first stage of the Tour DownUnder may have to be cancelled as the route is through one of the bushfire areas. Many of the fires, some still not under control, are in areas I have visited or plan to visit on photo excursions. News is much worse when one can picture the scene rather than just another anonymous place in the news. I haven't been out in the car since last Mon and driving to church this morn I felt quite strange.
Update from the campaign to target Tory marginals:
"If you live in one of these marginals or close to it, please email us stopthebadgercull@gmail.com We probably won't target the ones where libdems are second."

Morning all Quick look in to reassure kind folks that stomach rumbles were purely temporary. All okay now, so whizzing off to naughty breakfast (pastries most likely) with Brit friend. Back to catch up later - got involved with Downtown last night and then the 3rd season of Sherlock started....
ANNETTE I was slow to catch on to Sherlock so am now watching them on one of the channels that repeat old programmes. I can't believe how good they are.
Remember Winter Watch tonight on BBC 2 @ 8.30 pm :-)

I have just been on the tele, well my email has just been read out on Look North. Fame at last. I hope it does not go to my head.
"The Hunting Act needs strengthening as many hunts are blatantly breaking the law. Hunt monitors are needed because many people involved in hunting think that they are above the law"
