Italy, Siracusa:
Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 Saline di Siracusa (zona umida IWC) / Siracusa (SR) 1 Osprey (Pandion haliaetus)
[Renzo Ientile]
The osprey with the aerial has not been sighted again as far as we know. Richard said on the LG blog yesterday "Osprey (EJ) is the only migrant seen here locally so far", presumably he means LG and Abernethy.

Alan: I have received a reply this morning from Rothiemurchus Fishery, it is very kind of them to give us this update.
"We have recently had a few ospreys fishing at our pond but are yet to get confirmation on any of them as they have been viewed from afar. EJ is a likely candidate for one of them but there has not been any sighting of Red 8T as of yet.
We will keep you posted though and as soon as we do have a confirmed sighting we will inform you."
So this could raise a big question about that sighting, who was it?
Thanks JSB. Very intriguing. Maybe not Red8T then

Alan is there a running total of UK sightings anywhere? There seem to be so many sightings (obviously the height of migration period, and good weather etc) - I'm curious how you think it's looking so far compared to previous years.
Chocoholix shiny new 2018 Interactive Osprey & Chick Chart! (with clickable links!)
Chocoholix: Surprisingly year to date sightings are down by about 10% on last year and the year before but up on 2010 and 2011.
How interesting, Alan! (and slightly worrying if down for a 2nd year running) I'd have never guessed from all the listings you've been sharing here that we were down on last year. Let's hope the sightings keep coming thick and fast!
Thanks so much for all the information you share here, I regularly look at this thread to see what's going on outside of the public nests
