The team are off to The Gambia on 7/1/2014 and Tim's latest Blog gives all the details. Watch this space.
Birdies LG DU update.
Vespa Crabro/Alan P - I do see from my records that 32(05) had gone missing early 4/4/10 - so from your post I realise that maybe Mrs 5R may have paired with him that year had he not gone missing. What happened in 2009 were they late in meeting to pair off and breed that year.
06(00) - Was he the father of chicks 05(09) and 06(09) and other chick at Nest O - I had this down as parents unknown. I have the nest taken over by Maroon AA (Blue AW) the following year. Was 2009 the only year he bred as I do not see him mentioned breeding previous to this.
I do Thank You both for these minor corrections.
Tim Mackrill has just answered my email to say that they are planning to have to camera switched on by Friday 14th at the latest.

Keith, yes 06(00) was the Father of the 3 chicks including 05(09) & 06(09) (surely 07(09) was the other??). Several of us including Rachel, Tiger & Chloe suspected that 06(00) was the father for several years but we didn't have proof until The Rutland Water Osprey's was published, page 75 confirms it.
I seem to remember that 32(05) & Mrs 5R paired mid season in 2008, far too late to breed.
The future Mrs 5R spent time with both brothers in 2008 but appeared to have settled with 32(05). She would probably have stayed with him if he had not disappeared but she was already familiar with 5R.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this week pans out - the camera should go live by Friday and my predicted arrival is on Friday afternoon!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Sorry posted in wrong place.

The latest update says they are fine tuning the camera.
It's great to see the camera go live, and here was one of today's incumbents!
