Birdies LG DU update.
The only Rutland male that's "late" is 5R. The other breeding Males didn't return until 8th, 15th & 20th April last year
Vespa thank you for that.
Other Male Rutland birds returning dates from last year: 06(09) 10th April, 30(10) & 33(11) 25th & 11th May
Vespa do you think the conditions are holding the late returners up as apart from 5r here there are other Scottish ospreys that are considerably late compared to last year. Probably a question for another thread.
morning margo, hope you are ok ? xx its been a busy few days with drama at Rutland (cheeky Blue24 and 30!!) unfortunately I was in work so missed it all. But the general feeling is its too early to be worrying yet about the males not being around yet. And I see GreenJ has recently left, so maybe the fellas have only just decided to move :-) x
SEAGULL thank you, I have been telling myself that but still worrying lol. And a hello to MARGO:-))
Also thankyou to VESPA - it helps keep things in perspective with the dates:-))
Lmac as far as I'm aware 5R(04) is the only over due Osprey at present from the publicised site. 00(09) is the only other Osprey that I'm aware of that was later this year than last at the publicised sites (18/3/13 & 21/3/14). I think the current winds are all coming from the South bringing the Sahara air & assisting the speedy arrivals.

Almost all the birds are early this year, not surprising given that a lot were late last year. Only one osprey showing as late on Wildlife Village Forum Clocks

Thank you TIGER. It's just when I look at Mrs so patient on the nest, contending with all the unwelcome visitors, just waiting and waiting, I can't help but feel for her. And the thought that if a different male turns up, before 5R, she may just be willing to get down to brass tacks lol. That would be such a shame for such a 'solid' couple IMO

If you want an example of that then look no further than Coley. He is about two weeks late and the wife has a new man. Wonder what will happen when he arrives? See Coley
