HAPPY NEW WEEK AND NEW MONTH!

Last week's Weekly Chat thread is HERE. The code for this week's Weekly Chat thread is 010913 (in case you ever want to find it from the search box).

Read that "Diana" got panned, though the newspapers were hardly reticent about observing her privacy when the poor girl was alive.

I think you're spot on with that statement.

So many people had something to say when Diana was killed, but the comment which will always be a standout to me came from Madonna.  She said that it was so many people's need to own Diana which got her killed - so many of the people who mourned her death would have been buying all of those papers with the over-the-top reporting.  If there hadn't been the demand, she would have had a much quieter life.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • I'm nipping out with the camera while it's still dry - catch you all later.

  • Horrid day here, but off out into town soon. See you all later

  • Oh,AQ,what a day.Your daughter is so lucky to have you. I did chuckle at LMs antics but I know how difficult it is at times when I know that I should not appear to find certain behaviours of my own grandchildren funny! LM sounds a real character. And of course, just when she starts to settle down the whole process will begin all over again with baby number 2!!! Or maybe not. Two of my children only had one child each, perhaps they have 'memories'of growing up in our rather chaotic household---
  • The rain yesterday was not as bad as forecast but I did see that some parts of the country suffered from floding. The hailstones in Falmouth looked like a Christmas card scene.

We have shiny black, with small grey flecks, granite work tops and because they polish to a lovely shine, they do show all water marks and stains, so I cant get away with not keeping them clean and polished. I do like them though.

A nearby neighbour rang me yesterday to say that she had dropped a glass jar into her ensuite sink. The jar stayed intact but the sink had cracked !!

I won't bother going to see 'Diana'. The parts shown on TV didn't even look or sound realistic and we all know that it is fiction.

AQ, Loved your tales of LM. I did laugh, but I can imagine, you must be so tired. As they say, you can enjoy your grandchildren more, because you can return them to the parents.

I laugh at my siter-i-l who complains about her son's child,( nearly 2) being far too active and noisy. She has a selective memory. Her son, the father, was exactly the same.

I see they are forecasting a change of Government for you.

I will post now as I keep getting called away. More later

  • I got a few nice photos when I went out this morning:

I love visiting the local pond!

    Bottoms up!

I then went on to the Ferry - here's a link:

    Breakfast at the Ferry

On my way home I passed a field full of corvids - on getting out of the car, most of them scarpered.  Except this one:

The rest are pretty much all here:

Our local woodland is certainly Corvid Central!

  • Great photos, Clare -- here and your other link!

  • Cracking photos, Clare.

Sunny at times here, today.  Then really black threatening clouds came over but did not actually rain on us. Been to have a cup of tea with next door elderly gentleman - he gave us buttered malt loaf which my OH adores, so he is in heaven as I also made an apple & blackberry crumble tonight, another of his favourites.  We have never picked such huge juicy blackberries as this year, it seems to be a good year for all the soft fruits and berries. They must have enjoyed the weather this summer.  I saw a dance this afternoon, with two Admiral butterflies in the garden, fluttering wildly all around and besotted with each other.

Laughed a lot at AQ's descriptions of Little Miss and her antics.  They are hard work.  Our grandson will not go to bed without a fuss, either.  But it helps that he is now dropping having the afternoon nap quite often which means he is really tired much earlier in the evening, and goes out like a light when he finally gives in!!

Have been watching a spellbinding performance from Nigel Kennedy who played 'The Lark Ascending' on the Last Night of the Proms tonight.  Am off to see the second half shortly.  We always sing along to the last bit!!  Also exciting to see earlier the introduction to this years "Strictly Come Dancing" which promises to be as wonderful as ever.

  • Sounds like you're having a lovely evening, Lindy!  It's great fun to sing along.

  • Diane:   See it was a perfect launch for the new Ladee exploration.  Hope it all goes to plan.  I would so love to see a launch, live.
