HAPPY NEW WEEK AND NEW MONTH!
Last week's Weekly Chat thread is HERE. The code for this week's Weekly Chat thread is 010913 (in case you ever want to find it from the search box).
Evening everyone, we are still in Wales until tomorrow, sat in tent whilst it heavily pours down outside, I do find it quite comforting listening to the rain though. I hope it's not the same at Dyfi, I can't see any webcams so rely on everyone else's input.
Im not looking forward to packing the tent up if remains the same. We've had a great 10 days though so can't complain.
Clare, love your photos of your birds :)
What a shame, tina. Hope it stops soon!
Great to see you, OG! We both love the sound of rain. Just as long as I'm not out in it.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
ANNETTE One of the rehoming centres is close enough to visit daily and OH can pass it on the way to and from work. The other a little further away but still can pop in regularly.
LINDY That is a film I do want to see so looking forward to your review. Definitely will not be going to see "Diana " though.
OG hope there is nothing amiss.
Off to bed very shortly. I hope to catch up on much needed sleep, though will read for a bit. Unusually OH will not be in till after midnight as he is taking the people he supports to their annual hooley.
I find reading in bed very relaxing - too relaxing, as I tend to fall asleep quite quickly after picking a book up! We both really hope that the right dog meets you soon.
Annette, Tiger, and anyone interested and still awake: NASA's LADEE lunar spacecraft will launch in less than 2 hours. Tens of millions of people on the U.S. east coast will be able to see it. You can watch online coverage here beginning right now.
Evening all: Lovely morning at the beach with my nose in my book; then went off to the gym (back in the routine); then home for an easy dinner and lazy evening; well, did a bit of ironing. Cooler here this evening thank heaven.
Diane: Watched the launch from Virginia and never fail to get a thrill from the "10, 9, 8..." countdown. That rocket was gone in a flash - such a fast launch compared to others I've watched. Last week, my daughter drove to the main road near the ranch and watched a huge Delta IV-Heavy rocket carrying secret surveillance satellites (or something like that) launch from Vandenberg. She was joined by two busloads of folks who'd built the engines and had come up from Los Angeles to watch the lift off, which was helped along by three boosters (may be using all the wrong terminology here). Never seen that before; quite impressive.
Lindybird: How nice for your elderly neighbor to have you guys nearby. Ah yes, the elbow in the jam syndrome - I know it well. :-) Saw the news of that massive pile up in Kent - just ghastly. Read that "Diana" got panned, though the newspapers were hardly reticent about observing her privacy when the poor girl was alive.
OG: Take care of yourself and we'll see you when things are better than "okay-ish," which I hope will be soon.
Tina: Good that most of your holiday was sunny (I assume); hope it's dry tomorrow when you pack up.
Heather: We rarely get the chance to snuggle indoors and listen to the rain - such a treat when it happens. I also like driving in the rain and hearing the windshield wipers sweep back and forth. It's so soothing it makes me wonder if it's the same rhythm as a heartbeat. Glad you made it there and back safely with the Posh Plate!
dibnlib: Hope you sleep well.
Off to bed soon. Have a good Saturday everyone.
AQ: Hope you're off photographing something nice (or maybe waiting in line to vote??)

Annette - Neither actually. I walked to local school to vote before 9 am so I wouldn't spoil my day. Our electorate is the most marginal in our state (6% swing required) so we have been very popular with the 2 major parties throwing dosh at our western suburbs. Hm, we'll see if any eventuates. Amazing the number of strange parties that have appeared, they have such limited ideas - do these people just want 5 mins of fame?
As for the photog, perhaps this coming week, I am still recovering from Thurs' help with LittleMiss who had been sick with tummy bug and her mother was feeling very much under the weather. I am definitely not fit enough to cope with a 23-month-old whirlwind with a stubborn streak. Some of the day's events: While mother had a 2-hour sleep, LM put on her shoes, fetched a hat for herself and a same sized one for me [!], to go outside. 5 mins later we were back. Later she disappeared, returning stripped down to nothing but her nappy. I point out it was about 15 C and raining on this day. I finally won the battle to re-dress her, tho she wanted a skimpy sun top. She ate most of her sandwich, dancing and watching TV. Later at nap time I could hear Dau quietly saying "If you lie down, I'll stay." OW OW OW. "If you stand up I am leaving." OW OW OW. Finally Dau walked out. OW OW OWs continued until peace. No, she had dived out of the cot and was playing with the change table stuff. (Dau has a spy camera.) So off they went for a drive - that worked, fast asleep. I peeled vegs for tea and finally left. Exhausted. Ran into going-home-from-school traffic & roadworks. OH greeted me and I replied that I was resigning from position of mother & g-m! A good thing LM doesn't live in a flat, those OW OW OWs would sound terrible to the neighbours.
